The Lord is Not Willing that Any Should Perish

To Honor Jesus Christ, Glorify God, Encourage Believers, & Warn All

This information is offered with the hope that YOU can come to KNOW the Lord personally.   Changed 09-08-2002

2 Peter 3:8   But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

To the LORD time is irrelevant.   He is still on the throne and He is working out His purposes.   Why has He NOT already come for His Church?   Here is the answer:

2 Peter 3:9   The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance .

The LORD has been gracious to us.  He is giving the unbelievers a chance to repent before the tribulation begins.  He wants the believers to repent as well. Read on.

The "Day of the Lord" WILL come and it begins with the tribulation and it will end AFTER the 1000 year reign of Christ when a New Earth and New Heaven are brought forth when the current earth is renovated by fire.

2 Peter 3:10   But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

2 Peter 3:11   Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,

Apparently, while "looking for" the "coming of the day of God ", we are also "hasting" (hastening) the "coming of the day of God."  Since the tribulation is a fixed length (7 years of 360 days each) and since the 1000 year millenium is fixed in length, then, what could this mean?  It can only be a reference to the time of the rapture .

2 Peter 3:12   Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

2 Peter 3:13   Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness .

2 Peter 3:14   Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.

We are to consider (ACCOUNT) that the longsuffering of our Lord is for salvation.  He is longsuffering in that He did not come in the rapture today.   This "salvation" is apparently for US, the believers, not just the lost.  We are admonished to GROW in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.   Apparently, some have not repented or the Lord would have come already.  Are YOU one of those who is holding up the coming of the Lord?  If YOU are NOT WILLING to REPENT, you are not HIS.  If you are NOT His, He will spew you out.
2 Peter 3:15   And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;

2 Peter 3:16   As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.

2 Peter 3:17   Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.

2 Peter 3:18   But grow in grace , and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

We have the example of Noah:

Hebrews 11:7   By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.

God waited 120 years before He sent the flood:

1 Peter 3:20   Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.

God warned Noah 120 years in advance:   (Ever since the Great  Awakening, circa 1840, the Rapture has been preached as imminent.)  It is getting late on God's calendar.

Genesis 6:3   And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.

Before God sent the flood, He took Enoch, just like He will take the Church in the rapture.

Genesis 5:24   And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.

Enoch was here one instant and gone the next.  He disappeared before the flood, just like the church will disappear before the tribulation.  The Jew will go through the tribulation, under the protection of the Almighty, just like Noah and his family.

God always warns his people.  Methuselah lived 969 years, the oldest man recorded in the Bible.  He died the year of the flood. His name in translation is -"when it is come, he shall die."  God always warns His people.

God made the provision for Noah:

Genesis 6:14   Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch .

This same word "pitch" is translated "atonement" in Leviticus 17:11 and elsewhere.  The ark is a type of refuge (in Christ) for the believer.  It is the "atonement" of Christ that sealed the ark and made it water tight.

Genesis 6:8   But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD .

Genesis 7:11   In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.

Genesis 7:12   And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights.

Genesis 7:13   In the selfsame day entered Noah, and Shem, and Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah's wife, and the three wives of his sons with them, into the ark;

Genesis 7:16   And they that went in, went in male and female of all flesh, as God had commanded him: and the LORD shut him in .

The LORD "SHUT HIM IN."   What loving care God gives to those who "find GRACE."

Genesis 7:17   And the flood was forty days upon the earth; and the waters increased, and bare up the ark, and it was lift up above the earth.

Genesis 7:18   And the waters prevailed, and were increased greatly upon the earth; and the ark went upon the face of the waters.

Genesis 7:19   And the waters prevailed exceedingly upon the earth; and all the high hills, that were under the whole heaven, were covered.

Genesis 7:20   Fifteen cubits upward did the waters prevail; and the mountains were covered.

Since a "cubit" is about 1.5 feet , this means that the flood waters were about 22 feet above the highest mountains.

Genesis 7:21   And all flesh died that moved upon the earth, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of beast, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth, and every man:

Genesis 7:22   All in whose nostrils was the breath of life, of all that was in the dry land, died.

Genesis 7:23   And every living substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground, both man, and cattle, and the creeping things, and the fowl of the heaven; and they were destroyed from the earth: and Noah only remained alive, and they that were with him in the ark.

Genesis 7:24   And the waters prevailed upon the earth an hundred and fifty days.

Another judgment is coming from the Lord, but, it is amazing to watch how the spirit of the Lord is restraining the rise of antichrist.

2 Thessalonians 2:1   Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,

2 Thessalonians 2:2   That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.

2 Thessalonians 2:3   Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

2 Thessalonians 2:4   Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.

2 Thessalonians 2:5   Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?

2 Thessalonians 2:6   And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be  revealed in his time.

2 Thessalonians 2:7   For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.

2 Thessalonians 2:8   And then shall that Wicked be revealed , whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

2 Thessalonians 2:9   Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

2 Thessalonians 2:10   And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

2 Thessalonians 2:11   And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

The example of Noah serves as a warning to us today:

2 Peter 3:3   Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,

2 Peter 3:4   And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.

2 Peter 3:5   For this they willingly are ignorant of , that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:

2 Peter 3:6   Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:

2 Peter 3:7   But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

Romans 11:25   For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel , until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in .

Are YOU one of those YET to finish the "FULNESS of the Gentiles?"  God will not start dealing with Israel until He is finished with the Gentile believers.  Are YOU one of them?

If so, return to the home page and read How to be saved and the other messages related to growing with the Lord.

Be SURE of your salvation.  Salvation is NOT just mental agreement.  It requires repentance.
