To Honor Jesus Christ,
Glorify God, Encourage Believers, & Warn All
information is offered with the hope that YOU can
come to KNOW the Lord personally.
I was asked to review a web page (it does not really matter which one). The web page was a discussion of the “break” of the Western Roman Church from the Jews due to rejection of the Torah. This “rejection” of the Torah was described as the cause of anti-semitism.
Further, the web page discusses the differing views held by (Roman) “church fathers” of the Sabbath and how that the rejection of the Torah (old testament, 5 books of Moses) is the root of the invalid celebration of the Sabbath by the Western Roman Church.
I have this to say:
The seed of Abraham is two-fold:
sands of the sea (earthly)
stars of heaven (heavenly)
The seed (singular) of Abraham is (obviously) Jesus Christ, the Son of David, the means through which the Abrahamic Covenant is fulfilled for any and all.
This (stars and sands) means that the commonwealth of Israel (i.e., benefactors of the Abrahamic Covenant) are both the church and Israel.
That these two entities are separate is clear in that any believer today (prior to the rapture of the church) IS a member of the church, whether or not he is Jewish, Greek, or anything else. (a Jewish believer in the church age is no longer a Jew). However, after the rapture, all believers (though included in the larger category of saints) are not members of the church. The church is the grafted branch, which will have been completed prior to the 70th week of Daniel, during which time there are two types of "saints" (the Jewish remnant) and "the great number from all tribes etc out of great tribulation". Neither of these groups is the "church" but all are saved saints.
To me, the way the website is worded, i.e., the way the material is presented, I have NO IDEA what the PRACTICAL point is.
a) is the point the criteria for salvation?
b) is the point the validity and applicability of the law?
c) is the point that people have been anti-semitic?
d) is the point that anti-semitism results solely from (or partially from) rejecting the Torah? If so, rejection in what sense?
e) is the point that the Eastern church is better than the Western church? (if by this (East/West) we mean the Antiochans and the Roman Catholic doctrine, I might agree). However, it is unclear to me what the PRACTICAL implications of his message are.
What do we DO with information of this type?
Sabbath keeping, traditions, Jewish law, etc? The role of the Torah, the purpose of the Old Testament, the “break” between Jew and “Christianity”, the meaning of the phrase “commonwealth of Israel”, failures of the “institutions” of the Church, the roles of the Jew and the Church?
"Whatsoever things were written (OT) were written for our learning that through the patience and comfort of the scriptures we might have hope ."
Consequently, the message of the life of DEFEAT of self, the WAY to walk with GOD, the very phrase "the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob" per se is a microcosm of true faith in God and progression toward a right relationship with the Almighty.
The OT and the Jews in particular represent the EXACT NATURE of the walk any man will have with the Lord. If you understand your own nature, then, you will understand the meaning of "thy showeth thy word to Jacob, but, thy statutes and judgments unto Israel (the same, but changed man). The Lord revealed this to me in an unmistakable and overwhelming fashion. http://jesus-is-the-way.com/Broken.html
There is no better description of me (and any member of the church) than Jacob himself.
There is only one means of salvation, including for Abraham, PRIOR to the law and that was Abraham BELIEVED (and received righteousness in God's reckoning).
There is no difference PRIOR to the law and AFTER the law. Therefore, there is no difference (salvation) DURING the law.
The gentleman's website may well be highly informative in some sense. However, from a doctrinal instructional position, it provides me nothing.
The Lord Himself instituted the "feasts" and then later He said, "I HATE YOUR FEASTS." So much for "feast s".
The world is full of people who judge based on the external . The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a BROKEN HEART and saveth those that be of a contrite spirit. So, why should we care what St. Jerome thought (or anyone else) about the sabbath or any other tradition/law?
"Turn ye at my reproof; behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you and make KNOWN MY WORDS unto you." Without INTERNAL repentance, therefore, the LORD does not reveal Himself to anyone. And this has nothing to do with which day the Sabbath is celebrated. The sabbath is symbolic of our RESTING TOTALLY in the finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ.
So, when I meet a "saint" down the road, he and I will not care one bit about the "Western Roman Church" or (to use Paul's phrase) "the Jew's religion".
The only thing that matters is THE DAY STAR that arose in our hearts. Praise the Lord.
We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: 2 Peter 1:19
That DAY STAR is the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of David, the Alpha and the Omega, the I AM, the King of Kings, Lord of Lords, God in the flesh, the Creator (by whom and for whom are all things), the Living WORD of GOD, my friend. There are not enough words to describe my feelings toward this Jesus.
If I may, I have actually said this to the Nazarene, “Lord, can you just come into the closet with me and let’s just sit down for awhile?”
Nothing, absolutely NOTHING can stop the Almighty from saving and blessing His children (no matter who they are). Nothing can separate US from the love of God so marvelously expressed in His Son, who “ though He were a son, yet, learned He obedience by the things which He suffered .”
If you can understand this, then, you, my friend, have been brought into the “golden room” of fellowship with the Most High God, Lord of Hosts, who has chosen us and permitted us to call Him - Friend.
And hast not shut me up into the hand of the enemy: thou hast set my feet in a large room. Psalms 31:8
Pay close attention to what follows
Psalms 119:71 and then exactly 100 verses later Psalms 119:171
There are no coincidences with the Lord.
It is good for me that I have been afflicted ; that I might learn thy statutes. -- Psalms 119:71
(So, what precedes knowledge of his statutes? Affliction.)
My lips shall utter praise, when thou hast taught me thy statutes. -- Psalms 119:171
(What precedes praise? Being taught his statutes. Please note that being taught is quite different from acquiring knowledge. One does not acquire knowledge of the Almighty. One is lead to dependence upon the Almighty through the "furnace of affliction .")
...I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction. Isa 48:10
The sequence is clearly-
One can not manufacture true praise. True praise is elicited by the Lord Himself. You have seen public showings of "praise". These originate in pride. They are like the "sacrifices" offered to and rejected by the Lord. Yes, even in a sacrifice there is the element of self will.
Praise ye the LORD. Praise ye the name of the LORD; praise him, O ye servants of the LORD. Ye that stand in the house of the LORD, in the courts of the house of our God, Praise the LORD; for the LORD is good: sing praises unto his name; for it is pleasant. For the LORD hath chosen Jacob unto himself, and Israel for his peculiar treasure. For I know that the LORD is great, and that our Lord is above all gods. Whatsoever the LORD pleased, that did he in heaven, and in earth, in the seas, and all deep places. -- Psalms 135:1-6
David's Psalm of praise. I will extol thee, my God, O king; and I will bless thy name for ever and ever. Every day will I bless thee; and I will praise thy name for ever and ever. Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable . One generation shall praise thy works to another, and shall declare thy mighty acts. I will speak of the glorious honour of thy majesty, and of thy wondrous works. And men shall speak of the might of thy terrible acts: and I will declare thy greatness. They shall abundantly utter the memory of thy great goodness, and shall sing of thy righteousness. The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy. The LORD is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works. All thy works shall praise thee, O LORD; and thy saints shall bless thee. They shall speak of the glory of thy kingdom, and talk of thy power; To make known to the sons of men his mighty acts, and the glorious majesty of his kingdom. Thy kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and thy dominion endureth throughout all generations. The LORD upholdeth all that fall, and raiseth up all those that be bowed down. The eyes of all wait upon thee; and thou givest them their meat in due season. Thou openest thine hand, and satisfiest the desire of every living thing. --Psalms 145:1-16
What are statutes? He showeth his word unto Jacob, his statutes and his judgments unto Israel. --Psalms 147:19
The "word" is the raw Word of God, unknowable by men. The statutes are the WORD REVEALED unto men broken by the Lord. Jacob was proud, self promoting, fearful of loss, "grabbing". That is why Jacob is the microcosm for all believers who walk with the Lord. After the Lord dealt with "Jacob", Jacob became "Israel." The man "Jacob" had no chance to know the Lord. The man "Israel" was taught personally by the Almighty through the furnace of affliction .. In this sense, "Israel" (both the individual and the nation) is the embodiment of a "type" representing the New Testament believers' walk. Consequently, those who say they are not like Israel, rebellious, disobedient, etc; these (we) are lying.
The beauty of it all is that since HE DID it, no one can stand against it.
These make weep with JOY !!!
Mothers, do you love HIM as you love your new born son and daughter?
Fathers, do you love HIM as you love your wife and children?
If you do not weep, my dearest friend, ask the LORD today to make you WEEP too.
Praise the LORD all ye people the ultimate goal of all God's work
