INTRODUCTION

The Bible itself is absolutely true, without error.  The accuracy of this analysis, however, depends upon

. a proper understanding and application of the Bible
. a proper understanding and application of history as fulfilling Bible events.

If either of these criteria is not met, then, the analysis is wrong.  However, the Bible itself is NEVER wrong, only misunderstood.  This author is no seer, no prophet; is NOT claiming any special revelation.  However, the author can read the Bible and can read the morning paper.  The author believes the answer to the question above is  YES.  If you have a prayer, pray it; a message, send it; a word, give it.  The time is near.

If you find errors in this study, the author awaits your correction and stands ready to be corrected.  If you find information that would be helpful, let me know.

Warning: If you know everything there is to know about prophecy, if you go to church every time the door is open, what good does it do if you are LOST?

Part II of this Study  11-07-2004

It is the enforcement, "confirm[ation]", of the "covenant", peace agreement, that characterizes the SEVEN year tribulation of the Book of Revelation.  This SEVEN year period is shown in blue in the chart and is divided into two periods of 3 and 1/2 years each.   Jesus spoke of this in Mathew 24:15 when He referred to the "abomination" in the Book of Daniel.  This abomination takes place in the "midst" of the SEVEN years, which is called a "week" by Daniel.   Read this discussion.

The Peace Agreement and its enforcement will lead to the events described in the chart.  The intensity of " enforcing peace " and " defeating terrorism " has increased dramatically after the events of 9-11.

...The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy   (Rev 19:10)

This means that the key to unlocking prophecy is what Jesus said.   What did He say?  See Mathew 24:15-21.  He identifies the time of Great Tribulation as beginning with the abomination in Daniel 9:27.  We know that the abomination is in the "midst of the week."  The "week" is seven years.  This fits with references in Revelation to 42 months which is also THREE and ONE HALF YEARS and to the expression "times(2), time(1), and half a time(1/2)" which is THREE and ONE HALF YEARS.   In the last chapter of Daniel the vision is "sealed up" until the time of the end.  The "seals" are opened in Revelation 6 which resumes the vision.  The time to open the "seals" is approaching rapidly.  The Lord Jesus Christ Himself will open the "seals."

The Bible says we are to "watch."  If we could not see or if we did not know what to look for, there would be no need to "watch." "Watching" consists of viewing events through the explanations of scripture.

You must decide if the following are just coincidences to be ignored.  In any case, you should be asking yourself - " AM I RELYING 100% ON JESUS' DEATH ON THE CROSS (PLUS NOTHING ELSE) AS THE SOLE BASIS OF MY SALVATION? "  If you are not certain that the answer to this question is "YES", you need to start praying to the LORD now.

"You Are Either With Us or Against Us" - President of the United States, George W. Bush

From the New York Times News Service of 9-13-2001

Foreign nations were being given [ by the US government ] an
immediate black and white choice in their relationship with the United States.  “You’re either with us or against us” [ in the fight against terrorism ].

We’re building a strong coalition to go after these perpetrators, BUT MORE BROADLY, to go after terrorism WHEREVER we find it in the world.  This will be a MAJOR PRIORITY of the State Department

The following websites show that TERRORISM is THE obstacle to MidEast Peace.   Therefore, eradicating terrorism will be paving the way for the acceptance of the MidEast Peace Agreement.

http://www.israel.org

http://www.usinfo.state.gov/regional/nea/summit/cdavid.htm

It could easily be said that based on the quotes above and the websites that FORCING or strengthening the peacein the  Middle East will be the objective (or result) of the “ MAJOR PRIORITY of the State Department .”

The US military will be used to enforce a "religious" standard.  In a Pentagon briefing a few weeks before he retired, General Colin Powell, while Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, stated that the US military would be increasingly used to promote a "religious ethic", apparently on a worldwide scale.  This briefing was on C-Span.  Mr. Powell is now Secretary of State and he says we are “at war” with terrorism.  This means that those disrupting the peace are to be stopped, forced to comply, prevailed upon, even conquered.  Yes, one should be angry about 9-11.  It IS horrible.  However, real “trouble” is described in the Book of Revelation.  The world will soon be dealing with the truth of Bible prophecy.

If you are in the military, there is no cause for reluctance, however.  Just praise the Lord and do your duty; because  God is in charge .

The Biblical Basis for Saying that the Fight Against Terrorism Will Lead to the Prophecy of Daniel

When you read Daniel 9:27 you find “ CONFIRM ” the covenant.

Daniel 9:27   And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week :

The covenant described here is the "peace agreement" that involves the nation Israel, its hostile Islamic neighbors,  the United Nations, the United States, Russia, and Western Europe.  The covenant involves building an international coalition against those who are opposed to a peaceful resolution of the conflict.

Strong’s Concordance word number 1396 for “ confirm ” means to “ be mighty ”, be “ valiant ”, “ prevail ”, “ by implication be strong insolently ” or “ be stronger .”   Does this not describe precisely the present attitude of our State Department and government in its focus on the Mideastern terrorists and terrorism in general?  Has not the President said that "you are either with us or against us?"  Has the president not said he will "prevail" over the "evil doers?"   Has the president not said we are a "strong nation and people?"   Has the president not called upon the nation to be be brave ("valiant") and "stronger" than the terrorists?  Is there not an international movement to gain universal support for this policy?  Since the United Nations has, in effect, asked Iraq to disarm, is not this policy being "confirmed?"   Since the answer to these questions is "yes", it is wise to consider what the Bible says will happen when the ultimate "confirmation" occurs.  The United States may initiate such a policy, but, the ultimate confirmer is a long prophesied leader to emerge at the end of this present age.  The end of the age is unfolding before our eyes.

Perhaps the reason that this ROOT word appears in the Bible only ONCE is indicative of the UNIQUENESS of the historical situation.

Furthermore, recall the following verse in Daniel related to the antichrist:
Daniel 8:25   And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart , and by peace shall destroy many .

Therefore, the enforcement of "peace" will be strong enough to destroy many .

The Policy of the United States Requires that The Various Parties Be Brought to "Peace" Even Against their Will

From the New York Times as Provided by a Yahoo News Link 5-5-2002
http://www.yahoo.com or http://www.NyTimes.com

We read from the New York Times via the Yahoo link the following article.  The article demonstrates that the peace process is being FORCED as described in Daniel 9:27.  The author believes that “prevailing” over or “being stronger” than the Palestinians, Mideast leaders, and the Israelis will play a major part in the unfolding scenario.

The immediate challenge for Bush, … is to "convince the Israelis it's in their long-term interest to deal with Arafat, no matter how reprehensible he may be”… White House officials say that even if documents [in possession of the Israelis show that the PLO is connected with terrorists] are [true], they do not remove the political necessity to work with Arafat under the kind of peace plan that Bush is trying to pursue with the help of friendly Arab countries... "The Israelis were truly shocked by the amount of information they found," about Palestinian Authority links to terrorism in their recent sweeps and raids in Palestinian areas, one senior administration official said. "Even they didn't think that the kind of collusion with some of these terrorist groups was so extensive," the official said… Still, this official said of  Sharon's government: "They've got to understand that only by having a responsible Palestinian Authority are we going to solve these questions, and that Yasir Arafat is the leader of the Palestinian Authority."… The Israelis recognize that Washington is being lobbied by its Arab and European allies to put pressure on the Sharon government…  One administration official said Sharon "now knows that the president's support isn't automatic.”…The unresolved question is how much Bush can or wants to push Sharon to go along with an American plan to revive negotiations with the Palestinians…Sharon has steadfastly resisted,… The diplomatic approach [of] Bush … is threatened by Sharon's refusal to deal with Arafat. That approach [has] Arab states, led by Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Jordan,  putting pressure on Arafat, while the president presses Sharon to embrace … creation of a Palestinian state... Two days after Sharon leaves [the US], King Abdullah II of Jordan will … hold talks with Bush on the next steps in FORCING Arafat to rein in extremists and keep a lid on suicide bombings… Bush insists his approach can work, if only the Israelis and the Palestinians follow his lead… Bush plans to tell Sharon that the strategy of getting Arab states to press the Palestinian leader is working, so that Sharon should not say or do anything that rocks that plan.

http://nydailynews.com     via the Yahoo News of 5-7-2002
Clinton, speaking at Hunter College, said the violence between the Israelis and Palestinians might have to be policed by a coalition of Americans, Europeans and Russians.  "There will have to be a global force of some kind," he said. "If President Bush says he wants to be a part of it, I will strongly support it." … But with no ceasefire agreement looming, Clinton said the next peace-brokering move in the Middle East probably will have to be made by an outside party.   "I do believe it will have to be, IF NOT IMPOSED, at least STRONGLY PUSHED ," he said. "I believe it will require international forces ... and I think we ought to show up and do it."   Clinton called the Middle East crisis the biggest obstacle to globalization, which was the theme of his 30-minute address at Hunter.

(Emphasis added)

We see from these quotes that aggressive leadership is required to solve the terrorism problem and to achieve peace in the mideast.

The Biblical Basis for a Seven Year Tribulation Period and its Starting Point

Daniel's 70th week, (called the "tribulation") lasts SEVEN (7) years.  Using the Jewish calendar, each year is 12 months of 30 days each, or 360 days per year.  Therefore, the "tribulation" will last 7 years X 360 days/year = 2,520 days.

Daniel 9:24   SEVENTY WEEKS are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.

Daniel 9:25   Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built  again, and the wall, even in troublous times.

Daniel 9:26   And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.

Daniel 9:27   And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

The reason we know that the 70th "week" lasts 7 years is that the 7 "weeks" and 62 "weeks" (a total of 69 "weeks"), which have already happened, lasted exactly 483 years = 69 weeks  X  7 years/week.  Messiah was "cutoff", crucified, exactly 483 years after the commandment of Artaxerxes to rebuild the temple, March 14, 445 B.C.

This whole prophecy was made in 538 B.C. while the Jews were in Babylon at the end of their 70-year captivity.  The 1st 69 "weeks" were fulfilled exactly as predicted and the 70th "week" will also.

There are additional confirmations of the fact that Daniel's 70th week lasts SEVEN (7) years in the Book of Revelation as well. We discussed these above .  In any case, 69 of the 70 "weeks" for Daniel's people, the Jews, have already happened.  A pause, which has lasted nearly 2,000 years, has delayed the start of the 70th week.  THE 70th WEEK will BEGIN sooner than we think .
Recent events and the reactions of the nations are leading the world to the fulfillment of this prophecy.

WHAT IS THE EVENT THAT STARTS THE SEVEN (7) YEAR TRIBULATION?
(Also known as Daniel's 70th week)

Answer - the CONFIRMATION of the peace treaty with "many", not the signing or creation of the treaty.

Daniel 9:27   And he shall CONFIRM the covenant with many for one week

In order to confirm a covenant, the covenant must already exist. The author believes the covenant came into existence on September 13, 1993, on the south lawn of the White House.  (More on WHY this is the covenant of Daniel 9:27 later.)

The covenant must now be "confirm[ed]."  This "confirmation" cannot be an on-going event for seven years, because after 3 and one half years, the "he" of Dan 9:27 will himself violate the covenant.  Therefore, the act of "confirming" the covenant must START the 7-year tribulation.

03-16-2003
Leaving the preceding paragraph as it appeared when originally published [for honesty's sake], I am beginning to believe that I am wrong about this statement- This "confirmation" cannot be an on-going event for seven years.  As the events unfold and in the light of other issues decribed on this website, it appears there is a plan to enforce a universal religious/political conformity to avert the Clash of Civilizations . This plan will be implemented against "fundamentalist extremists" in general (Muslims and Christians). You will begin to see "terrorism" [or the equivalent] of the purportedly Biblical "fundamentalist extremist variety" to justify a "war on fundamentalists."  [ It is impossible to question the motives of any individual.  Do not make the mistake of confusing the objectives of the United States (or its President) with the eventual policies carried out in the Book of Revelation. ]

End 03-16-2003

Since we have already shown that "CONFIRM" means to FORCE the agreement on the unwilling parties, it is easy to see how the 9-11 attack has created an attitude in the United States leadership which will force the world to comply as part of the war on terrorism.

The fact that this process can be sponsored by the mighty (the United States), directed at a person with little intrinsic power (the eventual Mideastern leader described in Daniel and Revelation), and done in concert with many behind the scenes (as part of a global policy), is described in the Bible thusly-

Daniel 8:24   And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power : and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practice, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people.

Daniel 11:23   And after the league made with him he shall work deceitfully: for he shall come up, and shall become strong with a small people .

This eventual Mideastern leader will rise in power as the result of being sponsored by others.  His rise will coincide with the enforcement of a "covenant", or peace agreeement.  The soon to come Mideastern leader is also known Biblically as "antichrist."

The ASSUMPTION made by most Biblical commentators is that the "antichrist" CREATES an agreement to start the 7-year tribulation.   They have ignored the possibility that he could be enforcing an existing agreement.  Since "CONFIRMing" the covenant means enforcing the covenant, the covenant must, of necessity, exist before the 7-year tribulation begins.  Another reason for believing the covenant will already exist is that the Bible says we are to "watch."  The Bible says "as ye see the day approaching."  If this were not possible, the Bible would not tell us to "watch."  So, the agreement to be enforced during the events of the Book of Revelation will pre-exist the "tribulation."

There are three ways the confirmation process can occur- two as the beginning point of the 7-year tribulation and one as a CONTINOUS policy of enforcement thoughout the 7-year tribulation:

        1. A single significant event (public or private) which is THE "confirmation."

        OR

        2. The completion of a series of confirming events (public and private) the last of which occurs on the first day of the 7-year tribulation.

         OR

         3. A policy which dictates the principles which justifies the eventual antichrist's compelling and enforcing compliance with an agreement throughout the 7-year tribulation.

In any case, we have enforced consent to the peace covenant.  The "for us or against us" policy of the United States is leading to this scenario and the pressure on Arab leaders is increasing.

WHY THE SEPTEMBER 13, 1993 TREATY MAY BE THE "COVENANT" OF DAN 9:27

1. HE SHALL DIVIDE THE LAND FOR GAIN

Yitzak Rabin, the former prime minister of Israel, was elected on the "land for peace" platform.  This means Rabin promised to give up Israeli land to the Palestinians in exchange for peace.  However, he despised Yassir Arafat and had not planned on negotiating with the PLO.  His foreign minister, Shimon Peres, became SECRETLY involved with the PLO and only informed Rabin after the process was well under way.  Rabin actually was put in the position of being FORCED to deal with Arafat.  He had NO choice.  Rabin had made a deal with Arafat, called a "terrorist" by most observers (including Rabin), and was viewed as a traitor by orthodox Jews.

The treaty that was signed provides for portions of the land of Israel to be divided so that the Palestinians will have their own state.  The specified and agreed upon portions of the land are initially, Jericho and the Gaza Strip.  The complete methodology and details of the division of the land are as yet unspecified.  However, a timetable exists and is specified (more on this below).

Yassir Arafat, the head of the PLO, was running out of money and support - he was forced to make a compromise.  He agreed to repeal the PLO charter which calls for the complete destruction of the nation of Israel. (Some question whether he actually ever did this.) For this, Arafat was viewed by conservative Palestinians as a traitor as well.  Both Rabin and Arafat have agreed to divide the land in order to GAIN peace and/or personal advantage.   Arafat himself (in 1993) and the Palestinians(in 2003) are the immediate benefactors with the greatest GAIN.  Both sides GAIN "peace."  The Palestinians (and Arafat) receive TANGIBLE GAINS, however.

The Palestinian Authority (since the arrival of Mahmoud Abbas, aka, Abu Mazen) is now in a postion to be acceptable to the US administration.  The United States has publicly said that it would no longer negotiate with Arafat (now that Abu Mazen is available).

It was expected that Arafat would be elected president, or "king" if you wish, of the new Palestinian state.  Arafat stated this at the National Press Club in Washington on Sep 14, 1993, in response to a question the essence of which was, "what country do you represent?"  At the meeting with the National Press Club, Arafat was a smash success when he unexpectedly won over the audience with his sophistication, charm, and utterly confident, but empathetic, demeanor. It is said of the "antichrist", who will eventually persecute the Jews for 1,260 days, that

Dan 11:39   Thus shall he do in the most strong holds with a strange god, whom he shall acknowledge and increase with glory: and he shall cause them to rule over many, and shall DIVIDE THE LAND FOR GAIN.

Friend, as we have just read, the PURPOSE OF THE SEP 13, 1993, AGREEMENT IS TO DIVIDE THE LAND OF ISRAEL FOR GAIN, exactly what the "antichrist" will do - as prophesied in Dan 11:39.

04-07-2003
As we sit today with US forces almost having completed regime change in Iraq, we see a great deal of land that can be "divided for gain."   This would include the nation of Iraq and afterwards even more territory (when Revelation 6:2 is completed )

end 04-07-2003 there are other updates for this date

 2. HE SHALL CAUSE THE STRONG HOLDS TO RULE OVER MANY

Part of the Sep 13, 1993 agreement called for the city of Jericho and the Gaza Strip (as a first step) to become fortified areas.  These areas necessarily will be heavily secured due to wide spread fundamentalist opposition to the treaty on both sides.  Jericho will become the initial "capital" for the Palestinian state.  Palestinian Council elections were scheduled for no later than July 13, 1994.  The agreement specifically calls for a signing off on the details of Palestinian CONTROL of the two areas by Dec 13, 1993.  The Israelis will BEGIN withdrawal from the two areas on Dec 13, 1993 (to be completed by April 13, 1994).  On July 13, 1994 Israeli military forces (withdrawn already from Gaza and Jericho) would deploy outside "populated areas in the rest of the West Bank."  Israeli forces remain responsible for Israeli settlers.  Israeli forces become responsible for external security while the Palestinians are responsible for internal security.  The source for the agreement details is the New York Times of Sep 14, 1993.

In Dan 11:39 the words "STRONG HOLDS" appear.  The word "STRONG" means fortified.  The word "HOLDS" is plural and means strengthened or defended city.  Therefore, "STRONG HOLDS" means more than one militarily defended (or fortified) city.

Dan 11:39 ... he shall cause THEM [the strong holds] to rule over many

Since the two areas are designated as militarily fortified Palestinian areas and will house the government of the Palestinian state, they are "STRONG HOLDS" which will "RULE OVER MANY."  The "MANY" over which they rule are the Palestinians - regardless of their location.

  04-07-2003
As we sit today with US forces almost having completed regime change in Iraq, we see miltary units in various cities of Iraq.  These cities are unquestionably "strong holds" or fortified cities.  Once the antichrist comes to power he will indeed cause THEM [the strong holds, fortified cities] to rule over many because the military occupation will have become a way of life in the region.

end 04-07-2003 there are other updates for this date

 3. POWER OVER THE TREASURES OF GOLD AND SILVER

Implicit in the agreement is the expected forthcoming financial backing to be provided to the Palestinians in order that they can develop their infrastructure, etc.  In his speech to the National Press Club, Arafat said he expected to receive money chiefly from the Arab states to finance the new nation.

Dan 11:43   But he shall have POWER OVER THE TREASURES of gold and of silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt: and the Libyans and the Ethiopians shall be at his steps.

The conference on Mid-East Peace held in Washington on Oct 1, 1993 was co-hosted by the Secretary of the TREASURY, Lloyd Bentsen, and yielded billions of continuing dollars to support the Palestinian state.  The President of the WORLD BANK, Mr. Preston, promised his support.   Everyone was falling over backwards to provide help.
04-07-2003
As we sit today with US forces almost having completed regime change in Iraq, we see  a scramble beginning to create the FUNDS to FINANCE reconstruction and expansion of this NEW Iraq.  Unquestionably, the entire world community will be involved to provide funds eventually giving the antichrist POWER OVER THE TREASURES OF GOLD AND SILVER.

 4. IS THE COVENANT FOR SEVEN YEARS?

First of all, the covenant does not have to be publicly STATED to be for a seven years to fulfill this prophecy.  However, it must BE for seven years in fact.  [Once the treaty is "confirmed", there are exactly 2,520 days until the physical return of Jesus Christ.]  The agreement called for talks to start on a PERMANENT AGREEMENT no later than Dec 13, 1995.  The PERMANENT AGREEMENT was to take effect on Dec 13, 1998.  The result of the PERMANENT AGREEMENT will be the COMPLETE division of the land including the DIVISION of the city of Jerusalem.  This has been delayed obviously, but, the agreement still calls for this scenario.

While on the national news Yassir Arafat SAID that the whole process would take "SEVEN YEARS."  This includes the 5 year interim process (already agreed to) and apparently 2 years for the implementation of the final plan.  He said that UN Resolutions 288 and 242 must be completely implemented.  These UN resolutions require the final solution of the DIVISION of the city of Jerusalem.

Daniel 9:27   And he shall CONFIRM the covenant with many for ONE WEEK (seven years)

On the Larry King Show of Sep 27, 1993, Shimon Peres, Foreign Minister of Israel stated,

"A man in this business does not give his CALENDAR as his identity card."

Peres said that

"in less than 2 years a permanent comprehensive peace agreement will be reached."

When asked about the tenuous nature of the support in Israel for the agreement actually making the deadline MUCH CLOSER THAN 2 YEARS, Peres refused to answer the question.  He practiced what he preached - "not giving his CALENDAR as his identity card."  The fact of the matter is this:

THE IDENTITY OF THE "ANTICHRIST" IS FOUND IN THE "CALENDAR", his timetable.

This fact is the reason the rapture will come and go BEFORE anyone says publicly that there is a seven-year agreement , if such a statement is EVER made publicly.  In fact, the antichrist will BELIEVE he is doing right to enforce ("confirm") peace throughout the seven (7) years.  Further, the PROCESS of enforcing the agreement will begin in Revelation Chapter 6 and will not end until 7 years has elapsed.  It is the physical return of Jesus (and nothing else) which brings to an end "confirmation" of the agreement.  This is why the agreement (and its planned timetable) do not have to be for a period of seven years to fulfill the prophecy because it will be fulfilled DURING the seven years.  Understand that the POLICY of "peace" enforcement engenders the entire campaign of Armageddon and the events of the Book of Revelation. When viewed in this light, it becomes easier to understand the events that unfold.

 5. OPPOSITION TO THE TREATY FULFILLS PROPHECY

The word "CONFIRM" means

" to be strengthened, made effective, made to prevail (by implication to prevail or act insolently) ." [Hebrew and Chaldee Dictionary Word # 1396 of The New Strong's Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible, pg 25, Thomas Nelson Publishers, Nashville]

This word translated "CONFIRM" appears nowhere else in the Bible and signifies the OPPOSITION to the treaty which must be overcome.  If there was no OPPOSITION to the treaty, how could the treaty be made to prevail?  If there was no OPPOSITION to the treaty, how could the behavior of the "confirmer" be insolent?  Insolent means bold, disrespectful, inappropriate, audacious.  According to Rabin himself (not to mention the conservative Likud Party's opposition) the agreement was indeed disrespectful, inappropriate, audacious.  If the agreement was not "CONFIRM[ed]", it would last only 5 years or less.  To last 7 years (and reach expected fruition) it must be STRENGTHENED, "CONFIRM[ed]", with "MANY."  The nature of this agreement and the opposition to it make the treaty MORE LIKELY, NOT LESS LIKELY, to be the "covenant" of Dan 9:27.

In fact, the wording here implies that the people are FORCED to accept the agreement, even though they do not want it.  This is EXACTLY the situation.  [Read any comprehensive newspaper discussion of the agreement on Sep 14, 1993, the day after the signing.  Read any newspaper the week of September 13, 2001.]

It will be "confirm[ed]" with "many", but it will fail as the Bible plainly shows.

1 Thes 5:3   For when they shall say, PEACE AND SAFETY; then SUDDEN DESTRUCTION cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

Zech 12:2   Behold, I WILL MAKE JERUSALEM A CUP OF TREMBLING UNTO ALL THE PEOPLE ROUND ABOUT, when they shall be in the SIEGE both against Judah and against Jerusalem.

  04-07-2003
As we sit today with US forces almost having completed regime change in Iraq, we now have the PREEMPTIVE MILITARY STRIKE DOCTRINE as firmly in place in the region.  On Tim Russert yesterday Paul Wolfowitz (Assistant Secretary of Defense) made veiled threats toward Syria, for example.  There is no doubt that elements within the Arab world are opposed to this venture of "American imperialism" as they see it.  This opposition will necessitate "CONFIRMATION."

end 04-07-2003

 6. JERUSALEM WILL BE DIVIDED

The most difficult topic to be negotiated as part of the permanent agreement - as all parties readily admit - is the status of the city of Jerusalem.  If the details of this aspect (or any other aspect for that matter) of the agreement were discussed up front, NO AGREEMENT would have ever been made.  Jerusalem sits on the border between Israel and the West Bank (Palestinian State) - the Old City, the site of the Dome of the Rock (a Moslem holy place), the Wailing Wall (a Jewish holy place), the place of Christ's crucifixion, the proposed Jewish temple site, etc., is in the West Bank territory.  The Bible shows that Jerusalem will be THE TROUBLE SPOT.  The furor created by the attempts to control Jerusalem will be the device the Lord uses to bring the nations to the battle of Armageddon.

Since the agreement calls for the settlement of this issue and since Arafat (and the Palestinians) are demanding that at least part of the city should come under Palestinian control, then, the Second Coming is going to be sooner than later - because the events must now accelerate.

Zech 14:2   For I WILL GATHER ALL NATIONS AGAINST JERUSALEM TO BATTLE; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and HALF OF THE CITY shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.

Zech 14:2 states that "HALF THE CITY" shall be taken captive.  The remaining people "shall NOT be cut off from the city."  This sounds like that the HALF is not necessarily a geographical half, but a HALF of the people (probably the Jews) because the remainder of the people can move about.  It is the Jews who will be persecuted during the tribulation because it is "the time of JACOB's trouble" (Jer 30:7) - the 70th "week" of Daniel's people, the Jews.   As all scholars agree, this verse refers to the BATTLE OF ARMAGEDDON.

Zech 12:3   And in that day WILL I MAKE JERUSALEM A BURDENSOME STONE FOR ALL PEOPLE: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.

Zech 12:3 says "ALL THE PEOPLE OF THE EARTH BE GATHERED AGAINST IT."  The world will be worked into a fever pitch over the failure of this peace agreement and the attempts of some to gain political/religious advantage.  Prior to the coming of the Lord, the Gentiles (non-Jews, i.e., Palestinians, the Vatican?) will be given power over the "COURT" surrounding the temple.

Rev 11:2   But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the GENTILES: and the HOLY CITY SHALL THEY TREAD UNDER FOOT FORTY AND TWO MONTHS.

The "court" includes the area occupied by the Moslem Dome of the Rock.  The Jewish temple may be built just north of the Dome of the Rock.  "FORTY AND TWO MONTHS" of 30 days each is 1,260 (42 x 30) days.  This is one half of the tribulation, called the "GREAT TRIBULATION" by JESUS in Mat 24:21.

Mat 24:15-21   When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place [THE ANTICHRIST SAYING HE IS GOD] , (whoso readeth, let him understand:)  Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains: Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:

Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.  And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!  And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!

But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:  For THEN shall be GREAT TRIBULATION, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

The statement made by Jesus in Mat 24:15-21 above corresponds with the following event that occurs at the HALFWAY point of the 7 years.

The antichrist will stop the Jewish sacrifice ("CEASE") and he will make himself to be God ("ABOMINATION").

2 Thes 2:4   Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that HE AS GOD SITTETH IN THE TEMPLE OF GOD (Jewish temple), showing himself that HE IS GOD.

This is the VIOLATION of the agreement by the antichrist - it starts the period called by Jesus, "GREAT TRIBULATION," the second half of the 7 year tribulation.  It starts in the "MIDST" of the week and is 1,260 days long (42 months of 30 days each, Rev 11:2).

The Iraq War Gave a Sense of Urgency to the Mideast Peace Process

The peace agreement has a name at the moment (post Iraq War).  It is called the " Road Map " in the political arena. You can read about the "Roadmap " by scanning any search website for "Road map to Mideast peace."   The "Road Map" is an extension of the already established principles of the Olso Accords which resulted in the Sep 13, 1993 peace agreement which supported UN resolutions to establish a palestinian state.  In today's news we can read about the Road Map (finalized in December of 2002 and not pursued while the Iraq War was planned and conducted).  The Iraq War is the first step which will enable the eventual antichrist to enforce compliance with a "Roadmap" for "peace."  To do this, the antichrist will need a kingdom AND authority as " king ."

Bush Speaks on the Roadmap
at the Yahoo site- http://news.yahoo.com/fc?tmpl=fc&cid=34&in=world&cat=middle_east_peace_process
After the appointment of Mahmoud Abbas, known also as Abu Mazen, as prime minister [of the Palestinians] is confirmed, Bush plans to present Israel and the Palestinians with a " road map " for peace . With his announcement Friday, Bush responded to European as well as Arab complaints of inaction. He declared Israel could not have peace without accepting a Palestinian state on land held by Israel since the Six-Day War of 1967.

"There can be no peace for either side in the Middle East unless there is freedom for both, " Bush said. " The time has come to move beyond entrenched positions and to take concrete actions to achieve peace . "

There is a detailed discussion of the Roadmap below.

Sharon Speaks on the Roadmap
From FoxNews we read-
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,84043,00.html

In a broad interview with the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, Sharon said he believes the U.S.-led war on Iraq has shaken up the Middle East and may open the door to new opportunities for negotiations .

A hardliner who played a key role in building Jewish settlements in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, Sharon outlined his reservations with the so-called U.S.-backed "road map" to Palestinian statehood.

An Israeli delegation headed by Dov Weisglass, director-general of Sharon's office, headed to the United States Saturday to present 15 Israeli reservations with the plan.

The plan envisions Palestinian statehood by 2005 and is backed by the Quartet of Middle East mediators -- the United States, the European Union, the United Nations and Russia.

The U.S.-led war on Iraq " generated a shock through the Middle East and it brings with it a prospect of great changes ," Sharon told Haaretz.

Does anyone believe that Ariel Sharon sat around and came to the conclusion on his own that his former position was incorrect?  No, he has assurances from the United States and because the president kept his commitment vis-a-vis Iraq, Sharon can believe President Bush is serious.

Egyptian-Jordanian summit Monday over Iraq, roadmap
Jordan-Egypt, Politics, 4/14/2003

King Abdullah II of Jordan is expected in Cairo on Monday for a summit meeting with President Hosni Mubarak over the latest developments of the US-led war on Iraq, a statement by the Jordanian royal court said Saturday.

The summit will also dwell on joint efforts exerted to accelerate the announcement of the US-drafted Road Map peace plan .

Remember, "He shall confirm the covenant with MANY."

Active Arab Role Sought by Jordanian King

Jordan seeks 'active role' in post-war Iraq
By Sana Abdallah UNITED PRESS INTERNATIONAL

Jordan said it was seeking an " active Arab role" in Iraq to prevent the two countries from administering a post-war Iraq alone. Foreign Minister Marwan Muasher said he telephoned Arab League Secretary-General Amr Moussa " upon the instructions" of King Abdullah II , to "form an active Arab role". This role was "not only to stop the war as soon as possible and avert further destruction of the Iraqi people, but t o work toward preventing an opportunity for the United States and Britain to administer Iraq alone , while stressing the rights of the Iraqi people and their territorial unity", Muasher said. The Jordanian leader "will be contacting Arab leaders ["confirming"] and there might be visits to create this vision " , he added.

Dan Rather Interviews Jordanian King on Mideast Roadmap

from the website- http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2003/04/22/eveningnews/main550605.shtml
We read from a Dan Rather interview of King Abdullah of Jordan-
"If we don't keep the (territorial) integrity of Iraq we could have some major problems throughout the whole of the Middle East . "
King Abdullah, on the need to stop Iraq from splintering into several nations

For King Abdullah, this moment in history is pivotal , not only for the future of Iraq but for the whole Middle East .

King Abdullah: If Iraq continues to disintegrate, let's say, god forsake and there's no pressure on the Israeli-Palestinian issue, the skeptics in the Arab world will say, "See, the Americans were there for the oil, they don't care about the Middle East," if you don't solve the Israeli-Palestinian problem .

I'm going to pay the price as well as my people, and so will you. You will continue to be dragged in, too. You've been covering the region for how many years? And you will continue to be back here asking these questions unless we solve it once and for all .

Rather: Let's talk about the Arab world as a whole. What are the fears of Arabs in general?

King Abdullah: There was an international economic gathering a few months ago and the question was posed to a Western audience, and the same question was posed to an Arab audience: "What is the single most important thing in the Middle East?" The Western response was: democracy and freedom. The Arab response was : a future for Palestine. And I think the West needs to understand that the core issue is still the Israeli-Palestinian one .

Based on these comments by the King, there is tremendous pressure to move forward the "PEACE" process or "RoadMap" as it is called.

Prince Hassan of Jordan Calls for Regional Security Regime

King Abdullah of Jordan is not the only one making these types of comments.  HRH Prince El Hassan, the former Regent of Jordan, has made similar comments.   You can read about both these men and their potential future Biblical roles on this page .  It is clear that El Hassan is OPPOSED to the US presence in Iraq, whereas, King Abdullah is in FAVOR of the US presence.  Keep in mind that most scholars believe that the eventual antichrist will be assassinated.  "He had a wound by a sword and did live."  It appears that each of these men is being promoted by different groups, the United States and the Vatican.

HRH Prince El Hassan's comments may be found here:   (Thanks to RT for finding this.)

Message by HRH Prince El Hassan to the Conference: What Will Happen After Iraq? How Will Global Terrorism be Defeated?
New York, USA, 6 April 2003

The real connection between this war and terrorism will, I fear, become clear only afterwards when it is realised yet again that abuse leads to abuse, violence begets violence, hatred propagates hatred , and suffering smothers the natural human impulse towards reconciliation and mutual help. Mental health workers, teachers and social workers understand this in the context of human beings abused as children by their parents. Why do we not realise it in the context of the human beings who make up societies that either contribute to or detract from international security?"   In connection with "violence", read this .

There exists no internationally agreed definition of terrorism .

"The Iraq war has overshadowed the tragic Palestinian-Israeli conflict . Yet, when all is said and done about the many issues involving the Middle East, there is still nothing more fundamental nor more compelling in terms of our future security than the need to address the Palestinian-Israeli dispute ."
"The United Nations supported the formation of the Quartet - the United States, the European Union and Russia - and their Road Map. The Bush Administration did not follow up on this map convincingly and, in the absence of any determined steering, Prime Minister Sharon set it aside and Palestinian Authority Chairman Arafat was rendered ineffective by the opposition and distrust of both President Bush and PM Sharon. The Palestinian people, on the grounds of principle, have resisted calls for their 'regime change' even while acknowledging that the Palestinian Authority has been ineffective and corrupt."
We must as a matter of immediate urgency break out of the impasse on the Palestinian-Israeli situation , irrespective of the war in Iraq, in order to bring peace to the wider region. This is to be accomplished with determined efforts by the United States, with international support, to found a regional security regime for the whole region , including the elimination of weapons of mass destruction. This security regime would have its own joint monitoring and inspection operations and committees of Ministers of Defense and Foreign Affairs. Such a regime and its institutions will in itself be a confidence-building mechanism and a potential foundation for a regional cooperation, much like the European Union ."

" Israel, the future Palestine, Jordan, Egypt, Syria, Lebanon and Iraq should be part of such a regional system because of their geographic contiguity, and complementary economic and social factors.

COULD THE FOLLOWING BE A PRE-STATEMENT of THE "COVENANT"?

"Therefore, within the next few months, the United States must reconvene the Madrid Conference, or a Madrid-like conference. Outstanding issues include: 1) Settlement of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict; 2) Peace between Israel and Syria and Israel and Lebanon; 3) The setting in motion of mechanisms to establish a regional security regime and the elimination of WMD, including enhanced cooperation to eliminate threats by non-state actors using conventional weapons and potentially, WMDs; 4) Enhancing security cooperation for the prevention and control of "terrorism" ; 5) Development of mechanisms to eliminate anti-Jewish, anti-Israeli, anti-Arab and anti-Muslim materials from public education and the media; 6) The establishment of regional institutions for cooperation in the sharing of natural resources and their conservation (particularly water), joint operation of public utilities, joint efforts on transportation and communications, and promoting a free flow of peoples, goods, information and financial transactions in the region; 7) Within the concept of a regional security regime , the establishment of centralised institutions to address crisis management, conflict prevention and conflict resolution ."

A " regional security regime " is a pregnant phrase for sure.   There are about five different links above to a discussion of related Prophetic events.  It is truly amazing to read these words of El Hassan and compare them to future Biblical events.

About this whole process there is much background political maneuvering.

In fact, Nabil Shaath, a Palestinian Authority spokesman, when asked on CNN if Arafat or the new minister, Abu Mazen, was in charge, said, " You have to remember; we have a United States government and an Italian government. "  Very interesting, indeed.  What do the "Italians" have to do with this?   Answer (maybe) ?

Considering that Abu Mazen " ... gained a BA in law from Damascus University and a Ph.D. from the Oriental College in Moscow in History (on supposed contacts between the Zionist movement and the Nazis) "
See http://www.us-israel.org/jsource/biography/Abbas.html

05-04-2003
Let's see - Abu Mazen came to the Palestinian Liberation Organization from Moscow via " contacts with the Nazis ."  If you read the book Unholy Trinity by Loftus you find a historical study of the connection between the Nazis and the Vatican, particularly as it relates to how Nazis were able to escape Europe after WWII through the Vatican "Ratlines."  One wonders for whom Abu Mazen does work.  As far as that goes, who does the PLO (Palestinian Authority) itself, represent?  Can anyone say the Palestinians are better off under the Palestinian Authority?

Who sponsors these men is an interesting study by itself. However, if you consider that the PLO supplanted Jordan as the sole representative of the Palestinians in 1974, the Palestinians' "Israeli occupied territory" formerly belonged to Jordan but was lost to Israel in the 1967 war, and that Jordan has been a traditional ally of the United States; reestablishing the role of Jordan may well be the target of US policy.  Will the Road Map accomplish this?

05-01-2003

The Terms of the Road Map (drafted in December 2002 as an extension of the Oslo Accords)-

Phase 1: Present to May 2003
• At the outset, the Palestinian leadership must issue an "unequivocal statement reiterating Israel's right to exist in peace an immediate and unconditional cease-fire to end armed activity and all acts of violence against Israelis anywhere ."
• At the same time, the Israeli leadership must issue an "unequivocal statement affirming its commitment to the two-state vision of an independent, viable, sovereign Palestinian state living in peace and security alongside Israel ." That statement also must call for an end "to violence against Palestinians everywhere ."
• The draft also says Israel must withdraw from Palestinian areas from September 28, 2000 -- when the current intifada began -- and that both sides "restore the status quo that existed at that time."
• Security measures must be undertaken by both sides. A new Palestinian security apparatus must be established with its operations " aimed at confronting all those engaged in terror and dismantlement of terrorist capabilities and infrastructure ."
• Israel cannot take any actions "undermining trust, including [proactive security measures], deportations, attacks on civilians; confiscation and/or demolition of Palestinian homes and property, as a punitive measure or to facilitate Israeli construction; and destruction of Palestinian institutions or infrastructure."
• Quartet representatives will begin informal monitoring of the situation on the ground during this phase. The draft also calls on Arab states to "cut off public and private funding and all other forms of support for groups supporting and engaging in violence and terror. "
• This phase also details measures for Palestinian institution building, including a process to produce a draft constitution for the eventual Palestinian state. It also calls on Israel to take measures to improve the humanitarian situation in the territories, including the lifting of curfews and easing of transportation of goods.

Phase 2: June 2003-December 2003
Phase 2 is focused on the creation of an "independent Palestinian state with provisional borders ." It says such a provisional state can only be achieved once the Palestinian people have chosen leaders "uncompromised by terror " and "willing and able to build a practicing democracy based on tolerance and liberty."
"With such a leadership, reformed civil institutions and security structures, the Palestinians will have the active support of the quartet and the broader international community in establishing an independent, viable state," the draft says.
• During this phase, an international conference will be held to support Palestinian economic recovery and leading to the establishment of the provisional state "with provisional borders." At that time, Arab states are to "restore pre-intifada links to Israel."

Phase 3: 2004-2005
At the start of 2004, another international conference will be held to " formally launch a process with the active, sustained and operational support of the quartet, leading to a final permanent status resolution by 2005, including on borders, Jerusalem, refugees, (and) settlements."
The quartet will then work with both sides to try to make sure the deadline is met by the end of 2005 that will result in a Palestinian state, ending the "occupation that began in 1967."
The final settlement will also result in an "agreed, just, fair and realistic solution to the refugee issue, and a negotiated resolution on the status of Jerusalem that takes into account the political and religious concerns of both sides, and protects the religious interests of Jews, Christians and Muslims worldwide."
• The last line of the draft says Arab states must accept "full normal relations with Israel and security for all the states of the region in the context of a comprehensive Arab-Israeli peace ."
and security, and calling for

Part of this agreement includes enforcing UN resolutions 242, 338, and 1397.  The first two date back to the 1967 and 1973 wars. The last is a restatement adopted in 2002.

Full text: UN resolution 1397

The full text of resolution 1397 (2002), affirming a vision of a region where two states, Israel and Palestine are recognised, reads as follows

Wednesday March 13, 2002

"The Security Council,
"Recalling all its previous relevant resolutions, in particular resolutions 242 (1967) and 338 (1973),
"Affirming a vision of a region where two States, Israel and Palestine, live side by side within secure and recognized borders,
"Expressing its grave concern at the continuation of the tragic and violent events that have taken place since September 2000, especially the recent attacks and the increased number of casualties,
"Stressing the need for all concerned to ensure the safety of civilians,
"Stressing also the need to respect the universally accepted norms of international humanitarian law,
"Welcoming and encouraging the diplomatic efforts of special envoys from the United States of America, the Russian Federation, the European Union and the United Nations Special Coordinator and others to bring about a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in the Middle East,
"Welcoming the contribution of Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah,
"1. Demands immediate cessation of all acts of violence, including all acts of terror, provocation, incitement and destruction;
"2. Calls upon the Israeli and Palestinian sides and their leaders to cooperate in the implementation of the Tenet work plan and Mitchell Report recommendations with the aim of resuming negotiations on a political settlement;
"3. Expresses support for the efforts of the Secretary-General and others to assist the parties to halt the violence and to resume the peace process;
"4. Decides to remain seized of the matter."

The terms of the "Road Map" are not as significant as the determination of the United States (amply demonstrated by a war to overthrow a tyrant) to enforce a new paradigm in the Mideast .  This attitude (shared by many Arab nations, some more willingly than others) is what makes the situation Historically Unique (and it all started at 9-11 )!!

The following is an interesting objection to the agreement published at the time of the release of the Road Map.  The reason I find it interesting is that it appears that all objections have been met (allowing it to be moved forward).   We ALREADY know it will NOT work .  The Bible is clear on this.  So, whether this will work or not is irrelevant when it comes to prophecy.

Mapping Out Peace in the Mideast
By Dennis Ross, director
The Washington Institute for Near East Policy
Los Angeles Times, December 20, 2002

In my 20 years involved in Middle East diplomacy, there have been many times when the effort toward peace appeared futile to the parties involved. But none of those times had the ring of hopelessness that I see in the region today.

It is clear that Israelis, after two years of violence, believe they have no partner for peace among the Palestinians. For their part, Palestinians question whether the current Israeli government has any plan other than to try to extinguish their aspirations through force.

Neither side believes that any change is possible as long as Yasser Arafat remains leader of the Palestinians.

Israelis believe that Arafat legitimizes terror and has never reconciled himself to their existence. Palestinians understand that he offers nothing but tired slogans. But they part company on what to do about Arafat. Israelis want him out; Palestinians want him marginalized. Palestinian reformers, in particular, are leery of appearing as tools of the U.S. or Israel. They do not want to take on Arafat frontally; instead, their answer is to push for elections at the municipal and legislative levels.

The problem is compounded by the fact that they will not be able to hold these elections while the Israeli military occupies nearly every city in the West Bank -- and the Israelis will not withdraw the army if the result would be a new wave of suicide bombings.
Thus, if Palestinians won't act to stop terror against Israelis, then the military won't pull out, there won't be elections, there won't be reform, and Arafat will not be marginalized the way the reformers envision.

Left to their own devices, nothing between these antagonists will change. That alone is a powerful argument for a "road map" of sequential and reciprocal steps.

Last June, President Bush laid out a vision for a post-Oslo resolution of the conflict. The so-called quartet -- the United States, the European Union, Russia and the United Nations -- has worked to develop a road map for moving from the current situation of conflict to Bush's two-state solution. Following the logic of Bush's speech, the road map is supposed to be built on performance.
Unfortunately, the road map that quartet members are presenting today is flawed, making performance unlikely and the president's goals unachievable. The map has three basic failings .

First, it commits to the Palestinian strategic goals : End the occupation and accept an independent, democratic and viable Palestinian state. But there is nothing comparable in the road map that responds to Israel's strategic goals . Israel needs not a cease-fire but a renunciation of violence that makes clear there is a legitimate and an illegitimate way to pursue the Palestinian cause.

At no time during the Oslo process were those who carried out acts of terror against Israelis ever treated as enemies of the cause by the Palestinian leadership. The road map, like Oslo before it, makes no effort to de-legitimize terror and violence. Until they are de-legitimized, those tactics will continue, and those in the Palestinian security services called on to make arrests will be seen as doing the quartet's or Israel's bidding.

Second, the road map spells out no real responsibilities of Arab countries .
Arab leaders would make it easier for Palestinian reformers to declare the illegitimacy of terror if they would join them in proclaiming that those who are not prepared to resolve all differences through peaceful means are enemies of the Palestinian cause.
In addition, Arab leaders could help Palestinian reformers by endorsing a Palestinian prime minister to hold executive power. Few steps would more profoundly signal that Arafat's time is past.

These would not be easy steps for Arab leaders to take. But certainly the Israelis are being asked immediately to take difficult steps -- dismantle settlement outposts erected since March 2001 and freeze all settlement activity.

And the U.S. is being asked to carry the burden of making sure that the road map is implemented. So when Arab leaders come to President Bush -- as they will after a war with Saddam Hussein, to challenge Bush to be as successful in peace as in war -- the president must be armed with a road map that requires Arab leaders to assume their responsibilities.

Finally, the road map now creates the illusion of specificity . Though it contains seven pages of reciprocal obligations, my experience with the parties tells me that they will interpret each point differently.

The Palestinians will have one definition for ending incitement, the Israelis another, the Europeans possibly a third. The same for an Israeli settlement freeze. The same for arrests that Palestinians are supposed to carry out.

Rather than providing criteria for evaluating performance by each side, each benchmark will itself become a focal point for debate -- and that will lead to one more dead-end in peacemaking.

The road map need not be a lost cause. But its strategic premise must be corrected , Arab leaders must do their part , and each benchmark must be defined with a common meaning . Then Bush's vision might finally have a mechanism to make it a reality.

The first problem is apparently solved by the placing Abu Mazen over the Palestinian Authority (not Arafat), the second problem is already being solved by the Jordanian monarchy ,

the " regional security regime " of Prince Hassan handles the third problem.  A regional security regime acts something like this . The Coming of the Lord draws nearer.
End 05-01-2003

If you go to the website of the United States Department of State, you can read the "ROADMAP" for Mideast peace in its entirety.   This is found at http://www.state.gov/r/pa/prs/ps/2003/20062.htm

This release of the "ROADMAP" was made on April 30, 2003 by the State Department .

The full title of the Document is-
A Performance-Based Roadmap to a Permanent Two-State Solution to the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict

I took the liberty of copying a section from Phase I under the general topic of " Security ."

·    Implementation, as previously agreed, of U.S. rebuilding, training and resumed security cooperation plan in collaboration with outside oversight board (U.S.–Egypt– Jordan ). Quartet support for efforts to achieve a lasting, comprehensive cease-fire.

Of course, the emphasis has been added.  Considering the " regional security regime " mentioned above by the Jordanian Prince, and the fact that the eventual antichrist militarily conquers one of the other members of the " oversight board " ( Egypt ), and that the other party (the U.S ) will be materially affected by the Rapture , this will leave the " regional security regime" of the Jordanians as the lone member of the " outside oversight board ."  If this scenario unfolds with the RoadMap, it will exactly fit the Biblical prophecy .

The Jordan Times Reports on the Recent Discussions of King Abdullah with Representatives from the EU and the US
http://jordantimes.com/Tue/homenews/homenews1.htm

AMMAN (Petra) — His Majesty King Abdullah on Monday said it is time to implement the roadmap peace plan which provides for an independent Palestinian state in three years. In talks with US Secretary of State Colin Powell at Beit Al Baraka, His Majesty said President George W. Bush's commitment to the establishment of a Palestinian state in three years spurs all parties involved in the Middle East conflict to work for a just and comprehensive peace settlement in the region. The King stressed the need to take practical steps to ensure that the roadmap is implemented as a full package , rather than selectively. Describing ongoing peace efforts as positive, King Abdullah said such endeavours constitute a milestone opportunity for peace to prevail in the region on the basis of UN Security Council resolutions and the Arab peace initiative endorsed by heads of state at their Beirut summit last year .

(Powell) …noted that his talks with the regional leaders have focused on finding a mechanism for a swift implementation of the peace plan .. The King's talks with Powell also covered the Iraqi issue. His Majesty emphasised the need to accelerate efforts to form a national government in Iraq to administer the country's affairs. Priority should be given to restoring peace and stability in Iraq, and to channelling relief aid to meet the urgent needs of its people, the King said. King Abdullah and Powell also discussed bilateral ties and ways to enhance them in political, economic and military fields. His Majesty voiced appreciation for assistance extended by Washington to support the Jordanian economy and help the Kingdom carry on with plans to achieve sustainable development.

US grants Jordan $700m for losses caused by war AMMAN (R) — Washington will give the Kingdom $700 million to compensate it for losses caused by the war in neighbouring Iraq, Jordanian officials said on Monday. They said US Secretary of State Colin Powell, who arrived later on Monday in Amman on the third leg of a Middle East tour, would sign a document transferring the funds in a ceremony on Tuesday before heading to Saudi Arabia. The $700 million tranche is part of a $1.1 billion aid package to the Kingdom that includes $400 million in military aid. This is in addition to $450 million given annually by Washington to Amman. Jordan's deal is part of a $8 billion supplemental aid package to reward regional allies including Egypt, Afghanistan, Israel and Pakistan. Businessmen and officials expect it to further increase exports to the United States which soared to a record $500 million last year after Jordan signed a free trade accord with Washington, the only Arab state to secure such a deal. http://jordantimes.com/Tue/homenews/homenews2.htm
AMMAN (AFP) — EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana arrived here Monday on the second leg of a Middle Eastern tour for talks with His Majesty King Abdullah on an international roadmap for peace between the Israelis and the Palestinians. Solana was to meet His Majesty on Tuesday following talks with Foreign Minister Marwan Muasher, as part of a tour that will also take him to Saudi Arabia, Israel, the Palestinian territories, Syria and Lebanon, officials said. He announced earlier in Cairo his trip to the West Bank will include talks with President Yasser Arafat, unlike US Secretary of State Colin Powell, who shunned the Palestinian leader at the weekend and instead met Prime Minister Mahmoud Abbas. “Arafat is the president” of the Palestinian Authority, Solana told reporters in Cairo following talks with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and Foreign Minister Ahmed Maher. Jordan, a key backer of the peace blueprint, has repeatedly said the roadmap must be implemented quickly to ensure stability in the Middle East.              Tuesday, May 13, 2003

http://jordantimes.com/Wed/homenews/homenews2.htm
AMMAN — Jordan and Europe on Tuesday stressed that Israel must accept the roadmap sooner rather than later and called for swift implementation of the document to restore hopes for regional stability and development.
His Majesty King Abdullah and Europe's foreign and security policy chief Javier Solana highlighted in talks here yesterday the need for concerted international pressure on Israel to endorse the roadmap , which has already been accepted by the Palestinians and most members of the international community, including the US.

“We have to convince [Israel] and exert pressure in order to have Israel accept in a clear manner the content of the roadmap,” Solana told the press minutes before entering into talks with King Abdullah.

“We'd like to see a new page in the peace process being opened,” he said, adding that “the wish of people of good faith and goodwill who are behind the roadmap is to see the roadmap implemented.”

Envisaging the end of Israeli occupation and establishment of a Palestinian state by 2005, the roadmap is unique insofar that it enjoys very broad international support , Solana stressed.

“In my visit to capitals of the region, this is the message that on behalf of the EU we are trying to pass on: The time is not very long, a window of opportunity is now open and we have to use that window of opportunity to really get the peace process to move ,” Solana said at a joint press conference with Foreign Minister Marwan Muasher.

The sooner the better, today better than tomorrow ,” he emphasised.

The EU foreign policy chief pledged to work closely with the US and other powers “ with even more determination than before ... to see the roadmap implemented.”
Muasher reinforced the same concept: “This is the time for Israel also to accept and start implementation of the roadmap.”
Like US Secretary of State Colin Powell, Solana arrived in Amman on Monday evening from Egypt. His regional tour will take him to Israel and Palestine, where he was scheduled to hold talks with President Yasser Arafat.
Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon was expected, however, to boycott Solana to protest against his decision to meet Arafat . According to reports out of Israel, Solana will only be able to meet with Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom when he gets to Israel, on Wednesday.

05-17-2003

From the Department of State website and (excerpts) from the interview with Colin Powell about his recent Mideast promotion of the Roadmap.
http://www.state.gov/secretary/rm/2003/20546.htm

From my conversations yesterday, I came away with a sense that both Prime Minister Sharon and Prime Minister Abbas want to take advantage of the new situation that is before them . With the confirmation of Prime Minister Abbas, we now have a Palestinian leader that the United States is comfortable working with and talking to . I’m the first senior official to have the chance to meet with Prime Minister Abbas since his confirmation. And Prime Minister Sharon now has somebody that he can talk to and is comfortable talking to.
...
What I pressed both sides to do, which is more important for me to do than anything else I can think of, was to get started with security reform , get started with some relief of the conditions under which the Palestinian people live.
...
Both of them know that President Bush is now prepared to engage very, very intensely and more fully in this process. The roadmap is a way of capturing President Bush’s vision of last June 24th. I think it also reflects the vision that the Arab League laid out at the Beirut Summit meeting last year.
...
We support the roadmap. It is something that we wrote with our Quartet partners . The Palestinians have fully accepted it. The Israelis have not accepted, nor rejected .  They have issues with respect to it. They have questions. They have comments they wish to provide us. They are a free sovereign nation. If they wish to provide us comments, we will look at them. We haven’t changed the roadmap. We still think the roadmap captures the President’s vision. What is important, I think, is for Prime Minister Abbas to meet with Prime Minister Sharon so that they can start talking directly to one another. As I said to Prime Minister Abbas yesterday, do you want to know why they didn’t accept the roadmap? You can have the chance to ask them .
...
Prime Minister Abbas' first speech-
After he was confirmed by the legislature two weeks ago, in his very first speech —not written by the United States or any one else— in his very first speech he stood up and said we’ve got to stop violence , we’ve got to stop terror , we have to tell the Palestinian people that this must end because it is not getting us anywhere. It is important that he said that, I am pleased that he said it, but when he said it he then put the burden on himself, correctly, to begin working to put an end to terror and to violence .
...
And in the appointment of Mohamed Dahlan as his Minister for Security, which was very controversial, he put in place a person who knows how to do this (end terrorism), has done it before and has experience and has assets available to him. Not enough assets and we will try and help him with more assets to put in place with someone who can do it. So I don’t think that saying to Mr. Abbas that we should push you in these efforts and we encourage you is pressure; it is assistance to him and support of his efforts.
...
And now that Iraq has been dealt with in terms of Saddam Hussein regime, he realized that he had made a commitment to the world especially to the Arab world, President Mubarak , Crown Prince Abdullah , King Abdullah, Prime Minister Sharon , the Palestinian leaders and to the Palestinian people . And especially, since he calls for transformed Palestinian leadership, he asked the Palestinian people to look at where Yasser Arafat had taken them and said, “Is that where we want to be or do you want to bring up new leadership?” And they brought up new leadership in a form of Prime Minister Abbas and his cabinet. And so the Palestinians did what we asked them to do. And the President is going to do what he said he would do . No matter when the election is (Bush'e election)
...
So, this is a time of promis e. Both sides want to see the other side do more. Security remains a key issue that has to be dealt with. Whether one accepts or does not accept or remains silent at the moment on the roadmap, or whether one fully accepts the roadmap, the issue of right of return or the issue of Jerusalem and its final status, all these are interesting questions. They are important questions. But, the most important issue and the most pressing question is get started, get started on security, get started with the political transformation in the Palestinian Authority, and get started on the Israeli side with starting to open up things, open up closures, open up opportunities for people to move, and get on with their lives, increase the flow of revenue to the Palestinian Authority from the revenues that the Israelis are holding which belongs to the Palestinian Authority. And we got a commitment from the Prime Minister, increasing the rate of revenue return to assist in housing and people.
...
Both sides… the Israelis have said they are willing to accept U.S. monitors.
...
On Arafat, we made a decision last year, when the President gave his vision speech, that we couldn’t achieve that vision by working with Chairman Arafat because he had had many opportunities over the years to achieve the vision and he failed .
...
My own experience with Mr. Arafat was unfortunate and difficult . When I was here a year ago and he was surrounded in the Muqata, I said to him, we will work to break the siege in Muqata, break the siege in Bethlehem, but then you have to act. You have to act against terror; you have to act against violence. I said to him, unless you change, unless you really start leading your people in a better direction, this may be the last time I am able to talk to you, because you are not leading your people in the right direction .
...
We broke the siege of the Muqata. He came out and we saw no change once he was out , he was acting in the same way. And so we made a decision that we had to wait for new leadership and that is what we did, we waited . And the Palestinian people have produced that new leadership with Prime Minister Abbas.
...
Democracy is not something we go around imposing . Democracy is something that we present to the world, we share with the world, and each nation makes it own judgment as to how it wishes to proceed. Egypt is a sovereign nation that’s had a legislature for a hundred years and has had a representative form of government for many years in different iterations. And so we offer these tools to help Egypt and to help other nations in the world move forward. Not in the spirit of “here you’ve got to do it our way,” but in the spirit of look, here are some things that we believe can help you. Here is a menu, here is a buffet table, and how can we help you? And if you don’t want the help, don’t take it.

The Roadmap to Peace is moving along (at the insistence of the United States).  Since the Iraq War has died down, people are not as focused on prophecy.  This is actually a better time to focus on prophecy.  The Iraq War is not mentioned in prophecy but the "peace" "covenant" is in prophecy.

From the following website, we read (excerpts):

http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/pages/ShArt.jhtml?itemNo=296462&contrassID=2&subContrassID=1&sbSubContrassID=0&listSrc=Y

The government's vote on the road map represents the first time that Ariel Sharon puts a peace plan to a political test . Up till now, it was easy for the prime minister to make flexible, open-minded statements about the establishment of a Palestinian state and pushing the peace process ahead, but he refrained from asking right-wing ministers to approve these statements.

This time, Sharon promised to put the plan before the government for approval once there was agreement with the U.S. as to the method of implementation .

Sharon must not receive too much support so as to maintain the credibility of his complaints to the U.S. administration about his political difficulties at home. He needs to win by a small margin, and apparently this will be the case.

Typically, the prime minister did not rush toward the political test. He procrastinated with generalizations about accepting the principles and alignment of the road map. But the American demand that Israel should officially endorse the plan left him no choice .

The American viewpoint was that anything the Palestinians can use as an excuse for inaction should be disposed of, and since Abu Mazen demanded that Sharon endorse the road map before he takes any action on the ground, Sharon must endorse the map .

The U.S. would say that Israel's comments reflect genuine concerns and promise to take them into account in implementation. In return, Sharon would announce he accepts the road map and is putting it before the government for a vote.

From the Israeli perspective, the approval of the road map passes the ball to Abu Mazen : the political excuse is gone, and now he has no choice but to fight terrorism . His chances of success seem slim, and the blame will fall on the Palestinians. The problem is that Sharon and Abu Mazen are not the only players. U.S. President George W. Bush has interests of his own. Rice is pushing him to be more involved in the Middle East.

Bush is now traveling to the region to save Abu Mazen .

The conference, which is scheduled to begin on June 4, is extremely symbolic, since the 1967 Six-Day War, in which Israel captured the territories, started on June 5, and the line of June 4 is the border that the Arab countries have long presented as a prerequisite for any arrangement with Israel

. Sharon understands this. He is not enthusiastic about an international conference in which Israel would stand isolated against dozens of European and Arab leaders, and is not keen on being the guest of Egypt's President Hosni Mubarak. He would have preferred to be the guest of Jordan's King Abdullah at a smaller summit.

And another article from the same site: (excerpts)

http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/pages/ShArt.jhtml?itemNo=296468&contrassID=2&subContrassID=1&sbSubContrassID=0&listSrc=Y

Prime Minister Ariel Sharon will not agree to attend an international Mideast summit in Sharm el-Sheikh that includes representatives from Europe and the United Nations , sources in Jerusalem indicated last night.

If anything, the sources said, Sharon would agree to participate in a smaller forum including only representatives from the U.S., Israel, the Palestinians, Jordan and Egypt. The prime minister would also prefer Aqaba as a venue for the meeting.

After hearing Sharon's statement, Bush said he would "strongly consider" a joint meeting with Sharon and Abu Mazen . "If a meeting advances progress toward two states living side by side in peace, I will strongly consider such a meeting," the president said. "I'm committed to working toward peace in the Middle East," Bush added .

The cabinet is slated to discuss the road map in its weekly meeting today and is expected approve the plan by a narrow margin . Secretary of State Colin Powell stressed the importance of Israel's formal acceptance of the road map during a telephone conversation with Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom on Friday.

The Palestinians have already accepted the plan, which calls for the establishment of a Palestinian state within two years.

In addition to the Israeli and Palestinian protagonists, and the local host, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, invitations to the summit are also likely go out to Jordan's King Abdullah and a number of other Arab leaders Washington would like to acknowledge for their supportive stance regarding the U.S.-led campaign in Iraq

According to the Jerusalem Post
http://www.jpost.com
The Israeli Cabinet Has Approved the Roadmap
The cabinet on Sunday approved the US-backed 'road map' peace plan that envisions a Palestinian state by 2005, a minister said.

The cabinet approved the plan by a 12-7 vote, with four abstentions, Yosef Paritzky, the infrastructure minister, told The Associated Press.

It marked the first time that an Israeli government formally affirmed the Palestinians' right to statehood.

The vote came two days after Prime Minister Ariel Sharon reluctantly embraced the "road map" to Mideast peace, amid intense US pressure.

The Palestinians accepted the plan last month, immediately after it was presented, but Israel sought major changes.
Israel demanded, among other things, that the Palestinians crack down on terrorism before proceeding with the plan.
Sharon also insisted that the Palestinians drop without further discussion a demand for the "right of return" of Palestinian refugees to Israel.

On Friday, the United States declared that it would take the Israeli requests into account, but also said there would be no changes in the road map . Sharon agreed to endorse the plan, and then asked the cabinet to support his decision in the vote held on Sunday.

Four ministers from Sharon's Likud Party abstained in the vote, Finance Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, Education Minister Limor Livnat, Health Minister Dan Naveh and Internal Security Minister Tsahi Hanegbi.

Their abstentions followed a stormy meeting of the Likud early on Sunday, in which ministers voiced reservations to Israel being backed into a situation of guaranteeing Palestinian statehood by 2005, without any explicit guarantees of an end to a 32-month wave of terror attacks against Israelis.

Bush Plans a Trip to Jordan and Egypt

The Bush administration praised Israel for its endorsement of a US-developed Middle East peace proposal Sunday, and made preparations to send President George W. Bush to Egypt and Jordan in early June to advance the process.

Support personnel left Washington on Sunday morning to pave the way for the likely trip to Sharm el-Sheik, Egypt, and to Jordan.
Bush leaves Thursday for talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin and then the summit of world powers.

The chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee said the vote was a "big deal, but the president's involvement is the biggest deal."

The fascinating thing about this may be seen here-
Daniel 11:40   And at the time of the end shall the king of the south push at him (king of the north): and the king of the north shall come against him (king of the south) like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over.

Daniel 11:41   He shall enter also into the glorious land, and many countries shall be overthrown: but these shall escape out of his hand, even Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon.

Daniel 11:42   He shall stretch forth his hand also upon the countries: and the land of Egypt shall not escape .

Daniel 11:43   But he shall have power over the treasures of gold and of silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt: and the Libyans and the Ethiopians shall be at his steps.

Daniel 11:44   But tidings out of the east and out of the north shall trouble him : therefore he shall go forth with great fury to destroy, and utterly to make away many.  (read the section on the war of Ezekiel 38-39)

Daniel 11:45   And he shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain ; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him.

The King of the North is generally referred to as the antichrist and the King of the South as Egypt.  So, if we eventually have a Jordanian antichrist, then, what we have here is President Bush meeting with the King of the South and the King of the North .  Amazing!

Says
Abbas Must 'Wage a War' on Hamas
Thu May 29,2003

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Jordan , the host of next week's Israeli-Palestinian summit, threw its weight on Thursday behind the U.S. and Israeli idea that Palestinian Prime Minister Mahmoud Abbas crack down on militant Islamist groups.

"It's very important to give the new prime minister the support that he requires in order to fight terrorism. He needs to wage a war within against Hamas and against Jihad al-Islami (Islamic Jihad) ," said Jordanian ambassador Karim Kawar.

The Jordanian ambassador said a "power struggle" between the authority and the militants was inevitable and Palestinians must recognize Abbas as sole leader.

"We should not underestimate the power struggle ... that is taking place and it is just a matter of time before it does happen but it is very important to support Abu Mazen, first and foremost from within," he said.

"They have to recognize him as their sole leader and that will open the way to moving forward," he added.

Kawar said the Israeli government should strengthen Abu Mazen's position in the Palestinian community by lifting curfew in Palestinian areas and reducing the number of roadblocks.

On Thursday White House spokesman Ari Fleischer (news - web sites) said any cease-fire deal with Hamas militants must also include steps to disarm and dismantle "terrorist infrastructure ."

This website was begun BECAUSE it was anticipated that the "War on Terrorism" would become a way of life in the post 9-11 world and that it would lead to the confirmation (forcing) of peace in the Middle East and the coming of the Lord.

Now, we see this very thing happening in the peace settlement of the roadmap.  In fact, in today's local paper headlines read-
Bush Wages PEACE!!

And,
the people that are urgently supporting this hardline approach are the Jordanians

Elon Alternative Peace Plan

Elon's alternative peace plan says 'Jordan is Palestine '
By NINA GILBERT

Tourism Minister Benny Elon, a member of the right-wing National Union party, proposed an alternative peace plan to the US-formulated road map on Wednesday, calling for a solution based on the principle that " Jordan is Palestine ."

The first step in the plan would be to immediately dissolve the Palestinian Authority, followed by the international recognition of the Kingdom of Jordan as the only legitimate representative of the Palestinian people. Elon said Palestinians living in the Judea, Samaria, and the Gaza Strip would become citizens of Jordan.

Elon said he is convinced that Jordan would become receptive to the plan because it will give it a "political and economic upgrade ."

Here is a scenario-
The rapture occurs and leaves the United States in shambles, even if only 25 percent of the population is raptured.  The Jordanians (both El Hassan and King Abdullah) are already chomping at the bit to make this happen. (Mideast Peace)  In the article above it is the JORDANIANS calling for WAR on Hamas.   (Read all the links below to see how this could Biblically eventuate.)  It is the antichrist, an "Assyrian", who will go forth " conquering and to conquer " as his first act in Revelation 6:2.

Alternatively, suppose the REAL PEACE plan IS the Elon Plan and the Roadmap is a diversion.  To oppose the United States, Arab nations jump into supporting the Elon plan and immediately you have the beast empire of Daniel in the right location.

On the weekend 06-01-2003 even the King of Jordan's wife (Rania) was involved in a 10K run in which all the participants wore a T-shirt with the word "PEACE" on the back.

Middle East Conflict — Solution Possible?

By The Globalist | Thursday, June 12, 2003

Israelis and Palestinians are talking to each other again. Once more, U.S. intermediation was required. If it were not for many previous failures, the world could look at the negotiations with more optimism. Yet, in order to win peace, Israelis and Palestinians are condemned to talk — and gain each other’s trust. Our Read My Lips feature explores what is at stake — not only for the Middle East .

Why should the whole world pay attention to the Middle East conflict?

"I do not believe there is any other issue with the same power to re-unite the world community than progress in the issues of Israel and Palestine. "
(British Prime Minister Tony Blair, March 2003)

"A fundamental and final solution to the Palestinian issue can only be realized through an international consensus , with the United Nations playing a central role."
(Iran's Foreign Minister Seyed Kamal Kharrazi, May 2003)

"The journey we are taking is difficult, but there is no other choice. No leader of conscience can accept more months and years of humiliation, killing and mourning."
(U.S. President George W. Bush, June 2003)

"We never had problems with Americans before their Israeli conflict. That is really the root of all of this. Why don't Bush and Blair solve that conflict — and forget about Iraq?"
(Ahmad Shehat, 24-year-old Cairo protester, March 2003)

"While Osama and Hussein are latecomers to the Palestinian cause, the Palestinian issue is increasingly the oxygen that fuels Islamist extremism. "
(David Gordon, National Intelligence Officer for economic and global issues, April 2003)

I am troubled by the recent Israeli helicopter gunship attacks. I regret the loss of innocent life, I’m concerned that the attacks will make it more difficult for the Palestinian leadership to fight off terrorist attacks.
(U.S. President George W. Bush, June 2003)

"There can be no compromise with terror and Israel together with all free nations will continue fighting terrorism until its final defeat ."
(Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, June 2003)

"There will be no military solution to this conflict, so we repeat our denunciation and renunciation of terrorism against the Israelis. "
(Palestinian Prime Minister Mahmoud Abbas, June 2003)

"Israel seeks peace with all its Arab neighbors. Israel is prepared to negotiate in good faith wherever there are partners. "
(Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, June 2003)

"We will exert all of our efforts, using all our resources to end the militarization of the intifada — and we will succeed. "
(Palestinian Prime Minister Mahmoud Abbas, June 2003)

"We can also reassure our Palestinian partners that we understand the importance of territorial contiguity in the West Bank for a viable Palestinian state."
(Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, June 2003)

"We do not ignore the suffering of the Jews throughout history. It is time to bring all this suffering to the end."
(Palestinian Prime Minister Mahmoud Abbas, June 2003)

"As progress is made toward peace, settlement activity in the occupied territories must end."
(U.S. President George W. Bush, March 2003)

"In order to succeed, Palestinians must be able to move, go to their jobs and schools, visit their families — and conduct a normal life. Palestinians must not be afraid for their lives, property or livelihood ."
(Palestinian Prime Minister Mahmoud Abbas, June 2003)

"The lack of progress in the Israeli-Palestinian peace process has left a deep undercurrent of cynicism in the Arab world. "
(Jordan's Queen Rania, April 2003)

It would not surprise me to see US troops providing security for the Palestinian territories.  They are adamant about stopping Hamas and they are adamant about Israel staying out of the "occupied" territories.  What else is left?  This does bring to mind the following verse-

Revelation 11:2   But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles : and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.   See this page for discussion .

The US White House Really Serious About Roadmap to Peace
How serious are they?  Well they have actually asked Israel's Sharon government to remove certain conservatives from the administration and replace them with more "acceptable" liberals (to allow the Roadmap to move forward).  One of these proposed "acceptable" persons is Shimon Peres.  Why is this particularly Biblically significant?

From the following website we read:
http://debka.com/article.php?aid=514

DEBKAfile’s political sources have discovered that Rice had quite different fish to fry during her day in Israel - Sunday, June 29, namely the remaking of Ariel Sharon’s government.

Foreign minister Silvan Shalom was handed the first pink slip .

In a private conversation at the Aqaba summit on June 4, we are told of a remark Bush made to Sharon suggesting that, in keeping with Israel’s new relationship with the Palestinians and the onset of a new Middle East, it might be a good idea to rid his government of its right wing coalition partners and replace them with the more amenable opposition Labor party . The ministers he was referring to come from the pro-settlement National Religious Party and National Union: Effie Eytam, Yitzhak Levy, Zvi Handel, Benny Eylon and Avigdor Lieberman.

This sensitive chat had its corollary in Washington, taken forward a step at a time during subsequent trips the Israeli prime minister’s chef de bureau Dov Weisglass paid to the White House for settling the details of Israel’s troop pullback.

Weisglass was given to understand that the Bush administration while not necessarily a fan of Israel’s Labor party was keen to have Shimon Peres, Labor’s interim chairman and popular figure with the Palestinians as a peace negotiator, back at the helm of the foreign ministry . The reckoning in Washington is that a Sharon government made up of biddable Likud ministers, Labor and Change would quickly freeze the right-wingers out, including the few Likud ministers who would be uncomfortable with the new setup and its policies.

Without them, the Israeli government would be more amenable to the next stage of the Bush blueprint for an Israeli-Palestinian peace that will come up some time during the presidential election year of 2004. Then, an Israeli government will be needed in Jerusalem with a guaranteed ability to execute evacuations - not only of fringe outposts, but of thriving Jewish communities in the Gaza Strip and West Bank to make way for a Palestinian state. The White House does not want to risk this plan going awry.

Before leaving Jerusalem therefore, Rice met Shalom privately to broach a delicate request: Would he mind vacating his ministerial seat in favor of Peres? (Only a few months ago Shalom was moved sideways out of the finance ministry to make room for Binyamin Netanyahu). If he acceded, she said, he would be deemed in Washington to have made an invaluable contribution to a historic process and the future would hold rewards.

For obvious reasons, no hint of this maneuver was published. The only content officially leaked from the Rice luncheon meeting with Israel’s inner cabinet was the ministers’ solid resistance to her criticism of the security fence under construction along the Israel-West Bank border. She repeated the Palestinian prime minister Mahmoud Abbas’s complaint that the fence provided a pretext for grabbing West Bank land. Sharon rose to declare it was an essential device for protecting Israeli locations against terrorist incursions and there would be no compromise on the safety of Israeli citizens.

---

So, what has Shimon Peres proposed lately?  Why would the US promote him?
From the following website, we read:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A26894-2003Jul22.html

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Shimon Peres , the head of Israel's opposition Labor Party, has suggested resolving Israeli-Palestinian conflict over Jerusalem by putting its holy sites under U.N. stewardship , a spokesman said Tuesday.

His plan calls for declaring a holy area of sites sacred to Jews, Christians and Muslims in Jerusalem's old walled city as a " world capital," with the U.N. Secretary-General serving as mayor, Peres' spokesman Yoram Dori told Reuters.

Israel claims Jerusalem as its capital, including the Arab eastern part captured in the 1967 Middle East War and annexed in a move that is not recognized internationally. Palestinians want to make East Jerusalem capital of the state they hope to establish in the West Bank and Gaza Strip under a U.S.-backed peace plan.

Peres raised the idea in a meeting with visiting Russian diplomats -in-training when they asked how he envisaged a solution to conflicting Israeli-Palestinian claims to the city, Dori said.

Israel has previously rejected proposals raised by the Vatican to internationalize Jerusalem.

Peres, a former prime minister and an architect of interim peace deals with the Palestinians, has not raised the proposal with Israeli or Palestinian leaders, Dori said.

Why is this Biblically significant?

In Revelation 11:2 we read- But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city [Jerusalem] shall they tread under foot forty and two months.

Since this will occur in the LAST HALF of the tribulation, how far away can the rapture be?   See this diagram .

Bush to Abdullah : U.S. determined to fully implement road map U.S. President George W. Bush promised Jordan's King Abdullah in a telephone call on Saturday that Washington remained committed to the international roadmap for peace in the Middle East, according to a Jordanian Royal Court statement.

Washington was "determined to fully implement" the plan which envisages the creation of an independent Palestinian state by the year 2005, the statement said.

"Bush assured the King of his full support to the roadmap as well as the U.S. keenness to implement the plan in such a manner that leads to the re-establishment of peace between the Palestinians and the Israelis," the statement said.

Bush also promised the monarch , who is currently on a private visit to the United Kingdom, that the United States "will continue to work with various parties towards a complete implementation of the roadmap", it added.

Bush's telephone call with the King , a key player in Middle East politics, coincided with a new cycle of violence in the Palestinian
territories that threatened to torpedo a one-month-old truce between the Palestinians and Israel.

It has been the author's view that "confirming the covenant" means enforcing the "peace."
The party against whom the covenant is to be "confirmed" the most is the radical Islamic elements.

Arafat also announced a state of emergency in the Palestinian controlled areas in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

PA officials said the move was aimed at paving the way for a crackdown on Hamas and Islamic Jihad activists following Saturday's suicide attack in Haifa, in which 19 people were killed.

"President Arafat has decided to put an end to the state of chaos and anarchy in the Palestinian territories," said one official. "The new cabinet has been authorized to arrest all those who jeopardize Palestinian national interests."

That there are even "moderate" Arab nations historically capable of using even torture to affect outcomes, we read

http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?pagename=JPost/JPArticle/ShowFull&cid=1065455551092

Jordan has perfected the art of torture and uses it routinely against dissidents, suspected terrorists and perceived opponents of the monarchy. I'm talking about real torture here, not the kind of rough interrogation occasionally employed by the US and Israel. Jordan even threatens to torture and tortures the entirely innocent relatives of suspected terrorists, as it did with Abu Nidal's mother.

See also this information on Jordan .  It certainly is true that the eventual enforcer of the "covenant" will be the Biblical antichrist.

Rumsfeld pushes 'new sense of urgency'

By Bill Gertz
THE WASHINGTON TIMES
The United States needs to communicate its messages more effectively and a new agency would help fight a "war of ideas" against international terrorism, Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld said yesterday in an interview with The Washington Times.

"We are in a war of ideas, as well as a global war on terror ," Mr. Rumsfeld said during an interview at the Pentagon with editors and reporters of The Washington Times.
"And the ideas are important, and they need to be marshaled, and they need to be communicated in ways that are persuasive to the listeners," he said.

"The overwhelming majority of the people of all religions don't believe in terrorism," he said. "They don't believe in running around killing innocent men, women and children. And we need more people standing up and saying that in the world, not just us ."

King Abdullah, Putin to discuss European initiative
Jordan-Russia, Politics, 11/21/2001

The Jordanian daily Jordan Times said on Tuesday that the Jordanian King Abdullah II will discuss with the Russian President Vladimir Putin during his visit to Moscow which started on Tuesday a European initiative he carries with him.

The paper added that the new European initiative is due to be declared by the end of the current month and it has got the consent of Cairo, Amman, Washington as well as the European states.

Jordan Times explained that King Abdullah II is the most enthusiast for this initiative which implies Israel's acceptance of the establishment of an independent Palestinian state for Arab guarantees to the security of Israel.

See also the "crown" given to the antichrist and a study of the potential antichrist .  See the location of his kingdom here and here .

I believe enforcement of this "security" arrangement will be the " confirm[ing] the covenant" of the book of Daniel.  Soon, I will be publishing (hopefully today) a page on the coming Magog invasion of Israel.  A likely scenario will be:

 ----
a) Rapture

b) Magog invasion of Israel (and the devastating consequences on the United States, etc) - " dwelling carelessly in the isles "

and they shall KNOW that I AM the LORD (Eze 39:6).
There will be no need to guess; they will KNOW .

c) The 70th week of Daniel (the events of Revelation) and the enforcement of the "security arrangement" (covenant).  The thing that most observers ignore is that this will be done by Islamic states for the most part.

 ----

The Lord Jesus Christ is coming soon!  See this outline on the book of Revelation .

It is entirely likely that the tighter relationship between Russia and Jordan will cause a chain reaction of political and economic events that will eventually "put hooks into the jaws " of the Magog forces and they will come against the land of Israel (even against the will of Gog).

Ezekiel 38:4 And I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws, and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts of armour, even a great company with bucklers and shield, all of them handling swords:

If the Lord is "turn[ing] them back ", then, they were not headed against Israel at the outset.

Jordan welcomes efforts to create 'a region free of WMD'
By Khalid Dalal

AMMAN — Jordan on Tuesday said that having a Middle East free of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) is “a positive matter, but it should include all countries in the region.”
Responding to a question on the Jordanian position regarding the recent Libyan decision to renounce its programmes to develop weapons of mass destruction, Minister of State and Government Spokesperson Asma Khader said Jordan welcomes all efforts aimed at making the Middle East “a region free of weapons of mass destruction.

However, she added, “we hope that such efforts will include all countries in the Middle East and Israel as well.”

In addition to its pledge to halt its programmes to seek weapons of mass destruction, Tripoli has also agreed to intrusive inspections of its nuclear sites, a step welcomed by many Western capitals, namely Washington and London.

Following the Libyan announcement, the Arab League emphasised the need for Israel to comply with all regulations that prohibit the proliferation of such weapons, saying there should be no exceptions.

This could well be part of the terms of the covenant to be "confirm"ed.

Terror must not win — King

His Majesty King Abdullah on Tuesday strongly condemned the attacks on the Iraqi cities of Baghdad and Karbala, killing at least 170.

“We are shocked, dismayed at the heinous crime that was committed today in Iraq,” King Abdullah told a joint press conference with British Prime Minister Tony Blair after talks yesterday at 10 Downing Street in London .

“We've seen that signature before, where they have
tried to create the struggle between east and west , [very interesting reference, confirms what I have said all along] to try and take on not only the Sunnis inside the Islamic world, but — as we've seen today — targeting innocent Shiites to try and create a struggle inside Islam.”

The King stressed that “we will do our utmost... to ensure that the terrorists do not win the day, that there will be hope not only for the future of Iraq, but for all of us in the Middle East.”

...

The King's talks with Blair focused on Iraq, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and relations between Britain and Jordan .

Blair praised the King's efforts to bring about peace and stability in the region.

In Berlin, meanwhile, King Abdullah told reporters after meeting German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder that “we in Jordan are serious about homegrown reforms.”

“The Kingdom is also working for
a unified Arab stand on the proposed pan-Arab reforms that include a solution to Palestinian cause ,” he added, saying that Arab countries hope to present a blueprint for such reforms to the G-8 summit in June.

The blueprint would include a proposal, first aired two years ago, offering the Jewish state security and recognition in return for a viable Palestinian state.

The proposal was suggested by Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah and was adopted by Arab leaders at their summit in Beirut.

The King said it is hoped the leaders would in Tunis resuggest the “ Arab Initiative” as a solution to the Middle East crisis .

The regional reforms are to be discussed at the next Arab League summit in Tunis on March 29-30.

Arab League Secretary General Amr Musa said Saturday that the summit could draw up a united position in response to Western proposals aimed at promoting democracy in the Middle East.

In a related development, Foreign Minister Marwan Muasher told a US envoy visiting Egypt that political and economic changes must come from within the region.

“Any reforms that are achieved must come from inside the region and be based on our Arab and Islamic civilisation and our Islamic religion,” Muasher told visiting US undersecretary of state for political affairs, Marc Grossman, currently in Cairo to explain Washington's ideas. Grossman arrived earlier Tuesday in Cairo coming from Morocco as part of a tour that will also take him to Jordan and Bahrain to advance the so-called US “ Greater Middle East Initiative.” He will also visit Turkey.

Achieving stability, peace and security in the region is necessary to create the right climate to achieving development and progress in the region in the economic, social and political fields ,” Muasher added.

...

King Abdullah later met German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer for “positive” talks. He explained that the two sides saw eye-to-eye on “most of the regional issues,” including Iraq. The King added that the two countries want an independent and democratic Iraq run by a national government as soon as possible, urging to a bigger role of the UN in the war-stricken country.

Asked if he and Schroeder discussed Israeli prime minister's unilateral plan to withdraw from Gaza, the King said that all aspects related to the Palestinian issue were discussed, stressing the need to extend every possible support to encourage the Palestinians and the Israelis to go back to the negotiating table.

Jordanian prince in WWIII warning
By Lucy Williamson
BBC Middle East reporter

Prince Hassan of Jordan has said he fears a third world war is erupting in the Middle East.

Speaking to BBC's Radio Four, he said it was an "extremely depressing" time.
Extremist voices in the region were rising, and not only individuals but states were taking the law into their own hands, the prince said.
He was speaking after a week in which Israel assassinated the spritual leader of Palestinian militant group Hamas, Sheikh Ahmed Yassin.

'Spillover fears'
The prince said he feared the violence currently marking Israeli-Palestinian relations would spread to other countries in the region.
" It is such a hotch-potch at the present time that I'm afraid the making of a third world war are actually taking place in front of our very eyes "
Prince Hassan

"I'm afraid we'll see spillover into hostilities with Lebanon; already Hezbollah is bombing in the north," Prince Hassan said.
"A spillover into hostilities with Syria... and of course Iran is still very much on the axis of evil."
What the situation needed, he said, was an Arab intermediary, and for the international community to focus not just on security, but also a longer-term dialogue.

'
Versailles for the Middle East '

On a wider scale, he said recent events in Madrid showed that centrist forces worldwide were under threat.

He added that to stand any chance of progress in the Middle East, the international community needed to be clear about the different reasons for their involvement in the region.
"We have to sort out the cards again - the war on terror, the question of Palestine, the question of Iraq, the question of Afghanistan, WMD (weapons of mass destruction), Iran.

"It is such a hotch-potch at the present time that I'm afraid the making of a third world war is actually taking place in front of our very eyes."

The prince made his comments on the eve of the 25th anniversary of the Egyptian-Israeli peace agreement, and just days before a planned Arab summit in Tunis.

He called on all those involved in that part of the world to form a conference , saying
what the region needed was "a Versailles for the Middle East".

For those not familiar with the Treaty of Versailles - It was that Peace Treaty signed at the Palace of Versailles (in France) to conclude WWI.  For those who have analyzed the results of the Treaty Of Versailles, the treaty itself has created many of the problems in the Middle East.  This " covenant" to be " confirm[ed]" will do a lot worse for many.

The call for a mideast peace conference of this magnitude and the call for an Arab intermediary are both significant prophetic developments.   We have already shown that the location of the kingdom of the antichrist is modern Jordan/Iraq . We have already shown that the antichrist will be " the King of Assyria ."   We have already shown that he will arise among ten mideastern kings .  This "mideast  peace conference " will eventually yield the ten kings.  The Arab intermediary will be the antichrist.

Is it possible that the Jordanian Prince could become the false prophet (promoting the eventual antichrist)?  Yes, it is a possibility.  I have thought in the past that the false prophet would be a religious personage, perhaps from the Vatican.  Either one is a possibility.

Gary Bauer, a national Christian leader in the US, will serve as Chairman of the Summit’s International Advisory Board.

Dmitry Radyshevsky, Executive Director of the Summit stated, “ The Jerusalem Summit is an international alliance, determined to resist the new totalitarianism of radical Islam. At the same time, we believe in Israel’s central, spiritual and strategic role. We have interested some of the best minds of our time in seeking ways to free the Palestinians from the tyranny they are presently subjected to by their corrupt leadership.

The First Jerusalem Summit was held in Israel's capital during Sukkot (October 12-14, 2003). Outstanding political and academic leaders met to develop a joint strategy against the Totalitarianism of the East represented by radical Islam , as well as against Moral Relativism of the West , which erodes our resolve to fight that evil.

After Fascism and Communism, Radical Islam is the third major totalitarian threat to civilizationin the last hundred years.

The State of Israel is both a symbol and a front-line state in the battle for our civilization. A terrorist PLO state will pose mortal danger to Israel and the free world at large. Jerusalem Summit will develop and promote efficient alternatives to the Oslo process.

Jerusalem Declaration and other Summit's programs will provide the free world with moral clarity in the fight against radical Islam and new paradigms of thinking about the Middle East conflict.

Join us. United around Jerusalem, armed with our eternal values, we cannot fail.

Present at the Press Conference and shown in the photograph are:
Press-conference of the Jerusalem Summit. From Left to Right:
Dmitry Radyshevsky, Director of the Michael Cherney Foundation; Uzi Landau, Israel's Minister for the Strategic Cooperation between US and Israel; Richard Perle, Member of the Defense Policy Board; Benny Elon, Israel's Minister of Tourism; Daniel Pipes, Director of the Middle East Forum; Cal Thomas, TV Host, FOX News.

You can read the joint declaration on this page:
http://jerusalemsummit.org/eng/declaration.php

Toward this end the Jerusalem Summit proclaims:

The ideology of radical Islam, which stand behind so much of today's terrorism, represents the third major totalitarian threat to civilization on the past century, following Fascism and Communism.

The state of Israel is, symbolically and operationally, on the front line of the battle to defend civilization.  Israel itself must be defended no less determinedly, in this post-Oslo, post-roadmap period.

The United Nations as presently constituted has failed to fulfill the grand vision and tasks it was originally assigned; new models for i nstitutionalizing the unity of nations require fundamental rethinking and restructuring.

The war on radical Islam is a righteous cause that merits the full support of all people who cherish democracy and freedom.

Talk about furthering the Clash Of Civilizations !

Sharon adviser floats new Mideast peace ideas
Report: Israel would quit Gaza, hand over 89 percent of W. Bank

JERUSALEM - Israel has presented to the United States and Europe ideas for a peace plan under which it would quit Gaza and hand over almost all of the West Bank except for major settlement blocs, a newspaper said on Thursday.

Political sources confirmed the report in Yedioth Ahronoth, which also said Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s defeat on Sunday in a vote by his Likud party on a Gaza pullout could make pursuit of such a far-reaching plan with the Palestinians moot.

It was unclear from the report, which spoke of U.S., Jordanian and Egyptiancustodianship over Palestinian territories,” whether the proposal in the making included creation of a Palestinian state .

Yedioth Ahronoth, Israel’s biggest newspaper, said Giora Eiland, the national security council chairman instrumental in planning the Gaza withdrawal rejected by the Likud, also authored the new ideas for a comprehensive peace.

“After the disengagement plan did not get approval in the Likud referendum, we need to look for a more comprehensive solution and not to simply make minor changes in the original plan,” Israel Radio quoted Eiland as saying in a speech.

After a nod from Sharon, the outlines of the draft were presented to U.S. national security adviser Condoleezza Rice and German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer over the past few months, Yedioth reported.

Under the reported proposal, which the newspaper said was to be portrayed as a European initiative accepted by Israel:

Israel would pull out of all of the Gaza Strip and evacuate all of the 7,500 settlers in the area.
The Palestinians would get 89 percent of the West Bank, with the rest, containing major settlement blocs, remaining in Israeli hands. The territory to be handed over would be far greater than anything Sharon has shown willingness to part with.
Egypt would give the Palestinians a 230 square mile strip of territory inside its Sinai peninsula to relieve population congestion in Gaza.
Egypt would receive 77 square miles of land inside southern Israel, and a tunnel would be built connecting the enclave to Jordan.
The agreement would be signed at a peace conference convened by Egypt and with the participation of the president of the United States, European leaders and Russia.
It was not immediately clear whether Sharon had endorsed the ideas he allowed Eiland to float.

“Israel should stick to implementation of the road map and the signed agreements instead of searching for other ideas and other plans,” Palestinian cabinet minister Saeb Erekat said.

The U.S.-backed “road map,” stalled by violence, calls for mutual steps leading to creation of a Palestinian state by 2005.

Eiland’s draft, which one political source described as subject to change, was drawn up as Sharon was putting together his unilateral Gaza pullout plan and trying to persuade the United States to endorse it as a move towards peace.

As you may have read from the Egyptian link embedded within the article above, Egypt will be attacked eventually by the antichrist.  However, Egypt has a significant role to play before this occurs.  According to the Admin (Medic 911) on the rr-bb.com, who said "I have been waiting for Egypt to become entangled in this," Israel is warned not to " walk to go down into Egypt" and not to " trust in the shadow of Egypt" in Isa 30:2.  We all know that Egypt is a type of the world and as such is to be avoided as a source of strength.  The interesting point about this warning is that it is accompanied by the additional information that " for through the voice of the Lord shall the Assyrian be beaten down, which smote with a rod."

We have pointed out on many occasions that the antichrist is the Assyrian .  Therefore, it looks like part of the trust that Israel gives to Egypt will eventually result in the involvement of the antichrist.  Since the above article describes a peace agreement involving Egypt and Israel and Jordan (which occupies part of ancient Assyria), I would make sure of my salvation if I were you.

From the following website
http://www.debka.com/article.php?aid=862
We read of the increasing role of BOTH Egypt and Jordan as it relates to the cause of the Palestinians.

The Israeli government is getting ready to offer down payments to voluntary evacuees from 21 Gaza settlements and four West Bank locations that Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon plans to remove by the end of 2005. This move is designed to stimulate departures and jump the gun on two major delaying factors: the cabinet only approved the Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon’s disengagement outline; voting on settlement removals is not due until March 2005 and then it will be piecemeal. Secondly, compensation to departing settlers entails long and tiresome legislation, whereas down payments do not. Broad hints that the first comers will get the best deal have been thrown out already. The bargaining is clearly about to begin.

A second Middle East party has also hit on the notion of financially rewarding people willing to change address. DEBKAfile’s Palestinian and Jordanian sources reveal that Jordan’s King Abdullah is offering non-returnable “mortgages” – cash on the nail – to high Palestinian officials willing to purchase and move to luxury villas in Amman. The king is hoping to shut the West Bank door to the Egyptians, whose arrival is described as imminent under a putative proposal agreed by Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, Sharon and British prime minister Tony Blair (about which more later).
[the Biblically prophesied conflict between the Assyrian and Egypt in its infancy, especially in light of the increased role of Egypt in the "peace process"?]

The Amman villas come with a proviso: purchasers must list their new addresses on their calling cards. Their dual residency is intended to provide Jordan with a foothold at Palestinian Authority headquarters in Ramallah and represent the king’s interests on the West Bank.

According to our sources, several Palestinians have taken Abdullah up on his offer; two are prominent: Yasser Abd Rabo, Palestinian co-signatory of the Geneva Accords and Jibril Rajoub, Yasser Arafat’s own national security adviser, evoking a nasty letter from Arafat to the palace in Amman announcing that he would not stand for Jordanian officers and agents running around Palestinian territory. The West Bank is not the Gaza Strip! He declared.

Both are anxious to stall momentum on the Mubarak-Blair-Sharon project, on which White House national security adviser Condoleezza Rice has been briefed, for Egypt to send 150 instructors to Jericho to set up a new training academy for intelligence and special operations officers. These instructors are to double as the nucleus of the projected Egyptian military intelligence presence which will work in harness with British Secret Service MI6 agents to supervise the reorganization (called “reforms” in the Middle East road map) and operation of Palestinian security and intelligence bodies.

Abdullah and Arafat share in interest in sabotaging this Jericho project, but are too far apart on everything else to collaborate.
[You know, nothing would look better to the Arab countries than to see an Arab King (the Jordanian) keep Western Intelligence (the British) from getting its way in the West Bank, especially when the King is in agreement with the current head of the Palestinian leadership, Arafat.]

The heat is rising in Jordan over perceived activities of Israel and the United States with respect to Gaza and the "road map" to peace.  The Bible says that the Lord will make Jerusalem a burdensome stone. -   And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people:  all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces... "  Zechariah 12:3
Such pressure is building over the "peace process" (or better yet, its failures).  Many people will become more and more burdened over the failure of this process.  The increased pressure (among other things) will bring the prophecy to fulfillment among especially Israel's Arab neighbors.

Jordanian Perspective
'Another door slammed in the face of the Palestinians'

Musa Keilani

Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's top aide Dov Weisglass made no great revelation when he said that his boss is aiming at preempting the creation of an independent Palestinian state through his plan for a unilateral withdrawal from the Gaza Strip.
Let us put the scenario in perspective: Israel never had any “strategic” interest in occupying the Gaza Strip. It maintained its military in the strip and also built Jewish settlements there knowing well that at some point or another it would have to leave the area. It was not because of any Palestinian demand, but because of the reality that it could not really gain anything from keeping the occupation going that Sharon decided to withdraw. If anything, the Gaza Strip had always been too hot for the occupation forces. It was a classic case of the occupied land being made ungovernable for the occupation forces.

If we go back to the early 1990s and the days immediately preceding the Oslo agreement, the key words then were “Gaza first”. Israel could not wait to get out of Gaza since the cost of occupying the territory was too high in all aspects for both the Israeli military and the Israeli government.

And now, Sharon has decided that the time is ripe to get rid of the source of a continued headache and that is what we are seeing in his plan to withdraw his military from the Gaza Strip and evacuate the Jewish settlements there.

The world is not fooled into believing that Sharon is meeting any Palestinian demand by quitting Gaza. It knows that there are sinister designs behind Sharon's move. And that is what Weisglass made public. Add to that Weisglass' affirmation that the US supports Sharon's plan and there is no mistaking what he meant. “The significance of the disengagement plan is the freezing of the peace process,” Weisglass said. He added: “Effectively, the whole package called the Palestinian state with all that entails has been removed indefinitely from our agenda. And all this with authority and permission, all this with a presidential blessing and the ratification of both Houses of Congress.”

So what are we talking about and what are we hoping for? We in Jordan were convinced that Washington and its partners in the Quartet — the UN, the European Union and Russia — would remain committed to the “roadmap” for peace and would not allow Israel to continue to call the shots in the troubled quest for a negotiated settlement of the Arab-Israeli conflict, meaning an end to Israel's occupation of the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, the Golan Heights and the Shebaa Farms of Lebanon. Now we are told , notwithstanding any denial, that the US backs Sharon's Gaza plan which totally undermines the roadmap.

Of course, Israel had been resisting the roadmap from the day the initiative was launched. It attached its own conditions to the implementation of the initiative and thus stalled it. At that point, the US, true to its obligations to Israel, did not put its foot down and demand that the roadmap, which has international backing, be the only way to peace. Instead, it joined Israel and put away the initiative in the diplomatic cupboard. All we heard since then was rhetoric and meaningless declarations that the US and its partners in the Quartet were committed to the initiative. We saw little action towards transforming that commitment into practical action.

We took note that Washington is “demanding” an explanation of the Weisglass statement. Let us also take note that Weisglass said the Sharon plan had American “presidential” blessing, as well as support from “both Houses” of the US Congress. We have no reason to doubt the authenticity of Weisglass' statement and we believe that it was no coincidence that he found it fit to make it at this point in time in the Middle East.

Through Weisglass, Sharon is telling the Palestinians, the Arabs, the Muslims and everyone else in the international community to forget about the roadmap for peace, because Israel is entering the next phase in its quest to force its version of peace down the Palestinian throat. Obviously, Sharon is betting that international attention could not really be shifted to the implications of his plan, given the events going on around the world.

The US is battling to contain the Iraqi crisis in the countdown to presidential elections next month. Afghanistan went to the polls this week; so did Australia. In both cases, the results are politically intertwined and are closely watched by the world. Sudan is finding itself under mounting international heat over Darfur; so is Syria over Lebanon.

Then there is the US-led war on terror that manifests itself in various forms and shapes around the world. Every country is affected one way or another by the war on terror. Thrown into the overall equation are Thursday's deadly bombings in Taba. Groups asserting to be linked to Al Qaeda have put out statements claiming responsibility for the blasts that obviously targeted the large number of Israelis flocking to the casino in Hilton, Taba. Palestinian groups have denied any link to the blasts. But that is not the way Israel is going to see it. For Israel, the bombings are another opportunity to tighten its military drive against Palestinian resistance in the Gaza Strip. No doubt, it will turn its guns full blast on the Gaza Strip and will also seize the opportunity to target resistance leaders in the West Bank.

There will be more bloodshed and massacres, and the world will be watching, as helpless spectators, as yet another door is slammed in the face of Palestinian statehood and realisation of the Palestinian dreams of freedom, independence, and right to self-determination and to life in dignity.

Israel OKs compensation for Gaza settlers
JERUSALEM (AP) — Israel's Cabinet approved a compensation plan Sunday for settlers who will be uprooted by Ariel Sharon's plan to withdraw from the Gaza Strip and part of the West Bank, handing the prime minister an important victory two days before a showdown in parliament over the pullout.

Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon hopes to carry out Gaza withdrawals next summer.

The compensation program, approved 13-6, is a key part of Sharon's "unilateral disengagement" plan, which calls for a complete withdrawal from Gaza and four West Bank settlements next year.

The Cabinet victory, though expected, gave Sharon important momentum in the run-up to a far more important test Tuesday, when the Knesset votes for the first time on the entire withdrawal plan. Sharon also is expected to win that vote, but he needs a strong majority to marginalize his opponents.

"The train has left the station, the implementation is under way," government spokesman Raanan Gissin said of Sharon's plan. "After the Knesset vote on Tuesday we will be in an irreversible process."

Even if Sharon wins Tuesday's vote, parliament and the Cabinet will have to vote at least once more — and perhaps several more times — to approve actual evacuations, giving the plan's highly organized opponents more chances to torpedo it.

Sharon's government also might fall on other issues, including the budget, which could deal a possibly fatal blow to the withdrawal plan.

Sunday's Cabinet vote endorsed guidelines for compensating the estimated 8,800 settlers slated to be forced from their homes next year.

Finally, if you know friends and loved ones who are lost or saved ones who need comforting, please forward this to them

God bless you.

Jesus Christ is your ONLY HOPE.

If you reject Christ and you reject His words, what happens?

John 14:6   Jesus saith unto him, I AM THE WAY, THE TRUTH, and THE LIFE: NO MAN COMETH unto the Father, BUT by ME.

Matthew 7:14   Because strait is the gate, and NARROW IS THE WAY, which leadeth unto life, and FEW there be that FIND IT.

Acts 4:12   NEITHER IS THERE SALVATION IN ANY OTHER: for there is NONE OTHER NAME under heaven given among men, WHEREBY WE MUST BE SAVED.

John 12:48   He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him:

---->>    THE WORD THAT I HAVE SPOKEN, the same SHALL JUDGE HIM IN THE LAST DAY.
